We are committed to providing our clients with a range of service options to encompass every facet of the property life cycle from planning, forecasting, modelling and feasibility studies to asset management. From health facilities to education buildings, from commercial offices to retail centres, and five star hotel/resorts to sporting complexes, including working on Olympic Games projects, Rider Levett Bucknall provides a consistent and reliable delivery as proven by our track record. Our philosophy and culture is embedded in a belief that successful projects come from understanding and managing the relationship between value, time and cost. Our focus on adding value aims to meet the needs of the present without compromising future generations and delivers optimum results for projects to support our clients business goals and objectives. We have a history of consistently and professionally delivering superior cost consultancy, project management and advisory services across all types of developments, including such icons as the ongoing refurbishment of the Sydney Opera House in Australia to the repair commission of Windsor Castle in the UK. While all projects are unique and our participation may vary depending on our clients needs, our commitment to performance and relationships is constant. At Rider Levett Bucknall we pay tribute to the dedication and commitment of our experienced staff responsible for 225 years of innovation and excellence that our clients can rely upon.
4 Chairman s message Our research and innovation capabilities have formed the foundations for our technical excellence and we are today, very proud to be among the top consultancies in the world. Our story is one of collective achievement from leaders such as Henry Cooper, John Rider Hunt, Harry Wexler and David Bucknall to the thousands of hard working and determined people who have shared in the development of new ideas and technical best practices and contributed to our success. The journey has seen us share sector expertise, gain R&D credibility, create opportunities for global business development, facilitate staff exchanges and embark on joint projects that are challenging and interesting in terms of both size and profile. Our vision, To be the leading global practice in our markets by delivering sustainable competitive advantage to our customers through the passion of our people, continues to be a critical part of our distinctiveness. Our achievements have been built through engagement with clients, industry associations and leading firms and we continue to devote significant resources in the pursuit of new knowledge and service innovations. We have developed defined strengths in the fields of cost consultancy, project management and advisory services and focus on providing our clients with a range of service options to encompass every cost facet of the life cycle. Our research is underpinned by our participation at board level, through committees and working groups with industry associations across the globe and by our unmatched global construction market intelligence publications including the International Report, local reports and our renowned compendiums of cost information and related data. Our support and partnership with the renowned The Economist Group is just one example of our commitment to consistently remain at the forefront of the industry. The Rider Levett Bucknall Gulf States Report exclusively includes Where to Now for the Gulf? authored by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Our research strengths inform the shape of our innovative service offerings and we like to think we contributed to the current whole-of-life focus and professionalism within the industry, which continues to enhance the built environment. While we conduct research across a wide range of sectors, we are investing considerable resources in particular areas where we feel we can make a difference. This involves building our existing strengths, in fields such as RElifing where we are already a world leader, as well as identifying emerging problems and opportunities and moving to meet the challenge. As an independent construction costconsultancy with over 2,000 staff in 80 offices and long-standing and deep links with thousands of clients throughout Asia, Europe, The Middle East and The Americas we aim to be the best in the business. Our global practice and alliance relationships provide a platform from which we can bid for work in more than 125 countries and provide detailed market information to assist our worldwide client base. I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all those who have worked so hard over two and a quarter centuries clients, past and present staff, and members of our industry to make Rider Levett Bucknall the great practice it is today. Brian Dackers Chairman, Rider Levett Bucknall
5 Rider Levett Bucknall a portrait Rider Levett Bucknall celebrates 225 years of innovation and excellence Rider Levett Bucknall s long history can be traced back to a small firm of quantity surveyors established in 1785 by Henry Cooper, the son of a master carpenter.
