2 Groundwater is the focus point of the land where the water flows to bring new life. Our indigenous ancestors associated much of their culture, identity and spirituality with the groundwater. Our Australian farmers are reliant on the groundwater for their survival and most of us use our lakes, oceans and rivers as the central points of our recreation time to camp, play and catch up with each other. Groundwater is the common denominator in giving life and the magnet for bringing groups of people together. And that is what our team at Broadbeach Alliance loves to do. Our festival s recent rebranding reflects it s growth as Australia s fastest growing Country Music Festival. It also exemplifies the growing popularity of the country music genre in Australia, which is testament to this years fantastic and diverse line-up. We would like to acknowledge the entire Broadbeach business community, and give our whole hearted thanks to the sponsors, performers, crew and staff who work tirelessly to bring this festival to life. KATE JONES Minister for Tourism Industry Development Welcome to the Groundwater Country Music Festival 2018, one of Queensland s many great event experiences here on the Gold Coast. This annual festival showcases the best Australian and international country music talent over three days, while also celebrating the unique cultural significance of groundwater. The Gold Coast s Broadbeach is the perfect backdrop for this festival and with more than half of visitors travelling from outside the region, this event provides a boost to the local tourism economy. Experiences are at the core of any destination event and this vibrant celebration will leave you with some amazing Queensland memories. The Palaszczuk Government is proud to support this event through Tourism and Events Queensland s Destination Events Program. Congratulations to the event organisers, volunteers and all those involved in ensuring this year s Groundwater Country Music Festival is a success. I encourage all visitors to take some time to explore the Gold Coast to experience more of the best address on earth. TOM TATE Mayor, City of Gold Coast No one does country music like the Gold Coast. For a coastal city of 580,000, we punch well above our weight when it comes to producing some of the best live music festivals in Australia. What makes Groundwater such a vibrant, family event is the depth of talent on show over the three days set against an iconic beachside location in the heart of Broadbeach. I love the fact Gold Coasters do things a little different, with the Groundwater festival symbolic of our have-ago-spirit and passion for fun. Looking way ahead, major events will continue to be part of our DNA as we strive to become a serious events city on the world stage. Events bring people but they also boost our reputation as a can-do region. Just look at the recent 2018 Commonwealth Games and it s easy to see how our reputation as a major events destination is on the up. Our Council is currently working on a major events strategy, to further enhance our annual events calendar and showcase everything that s great about the Goldie. I can t wait to dust off my Akubra and get down to Broadbeach. I may not have the dance moves of some of those boot scooters but I ll be there in the mosh pit when the likes of Adam Harvey and The McClymonts take to the stage. See you there. Free Pacif ic Fair Shopping Centre shuttle Pacific Fair offers a free shopping shuttle service! The shuttle service is available to guests visiting the Gold Coast and stops within the festival area at Sofitel Broadbeach on Surf Parade. The shuttle service runs daily from 10:30am. Please visit for more info. Road Closures For information on road closures and alternative traffic routes during the festival please visit our website. Parking Public parking options are available throughout Broadbeach including; Oasis Shopping Centre, The Phoenician Public Car Park, Oracle Boulevard and Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are also a number of paid and free parking options available throughout Broadbeach. Wet Weather The festival will run regardless of rain. In the event of dangerous weather conditions all updates or changes to the event program will be communicated via the Groundwater Country Music Festival Facebook page, website and at the Event Office. Chair Guidelines You are welcome to bring your own portable chairs to the festival, we do ask though that you follow these guidelines. Designated Chair Zones will be set at each stage and will be identifiable by with signage and bunting. For safety reasons there will be Chair Exclusion Zones at each stage, these Zones may only come into effect at certain times throughout the day depending on the programming and this may change daily, so please follow instructions on the signage and from Security. Please be respectful of those who have already placed chairs out, prior to positioning your own. Please do not leave your chairs unattended for safety reasons, and if deemed required, unattended chairs may be removed by the Festival. We ask that you respect and follow these rules not only for safety reasons but the experience of all festivalgoers. We encourage all partrons to use active travel (walk or bike) or use public transport where possible including buses, Gold Coast Light Rail and cabs. Visit groundwatercmf.com for more details. 3 4
