5 LETTER OF INVITATION LETTER OF INVITATION On behalf of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine, it is my great pleasure and honour to cordially invite you to the 31 st Annual EANM Congress in Düsseldorf, Germany in October

6 LETTER OF INVITATION The EANM meeting is now definitively the worldreference congress in nuclear medicine. In order to maintain our congress at its excellent level, the meeting will build on the traditions that are highly appreciated by all the attendees, with the expansion of newer features. A specific educational track, implemented with the collaboration of the European School of Multimodality Imaging and Therapy, will include up-to-date teaching sessions, enriched pitfalls seminars and Continuous Medical Education interactive sessions. In all these active learning conferences, attendees will have the possibility to enhance their knowledge of multimodality imaging. A careful evaluation procedure relating to the speakers will be implemented in order to gain feedback and ensure that future interactive sessions continue to enjoy a positive response. With similar pedagogic intent, numerous multidisciplinary joint symposia, organised by several EANM Committees in collaboration with our sister societies, will offer an integrative approach to various topics relevant to the state of the art of our discipline. I would like to take this opportunity to make a special appeal to young specialists, who will probably benefit most from the academic sessions. You represent the future of our discipline and it is you who should begin to shape yourself for a brighter tomorrow in our community! Of course, all this will not reduce the predominant role of our congress, namely to deliver oral and electronicposter presentations on the latest achievements in clinical nuclear medicine, science and technology. On the contrary, the oral sessions will be enriched. Rapid Fire sessions will draw attention to the highly rated abstracts in specific comprehensive topics, with a panel of top-level presentations followed by extensive discussions; this will provide attendees with an integrated and coherent view on a wide variety of topics. Furthermore, the concept of featured oral sessions in which an invited speaker place the presentations into a broader perspective will be generalised to all the other oral presentations. The now well-established tracks M2M Molecule to Man (basic and translational science) and Do.MoRe (radionuclide therapy and dosimetry) promise to promote high-quality research through interaction between basic and translational clinical scientists and to present the latest achievements and developments in the fields of clinical molecular imaging and nuclear medicine therapy. During plenary lectures, distinguished speakers will address the state of the art and new developments in clinical and allied sciences, covering a broad range of topics with the goal of fostering the provision of the best possible care for our patients. In particular, it is a pleasure and an honour for me to announce that Prof. Bernard L. Feringa, from Groningen, the Netherlands, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2016, will be present at our annual congress with a lecture on the Fascinating World of Molecules on Tuesday. At the end of the meeting, the traditional Highlights lecture will provide a broad overview of the science presented at EANM 18. I am delighted that two young but very motivated and highly respected members of our European Nuclear Medicine community, Prof. Ken Hermann from Essen, Germany, and Dr. Fijs van Leeuwen from Leiden, the Netherlands, have agreed to take on this task. For all these reasons, I cordially invite you to EANM 18 to actively participate in our 31 st Annual Congress, to meet and interact with friends and colleagues from all over the world, to discuss science, to learn about the exciting developments in nuclear medicine, to break away from the daily routine and to enjoy everything that the city of Düsseldorf has to offer. 26 SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME Do.MoRe 9 th International Symposium on DOsimetry and MOlecular Radiotherapy The 9 th International Symposium on DOsimetry and MOlecular Radiotherapy (Do.MoRe) will take place during the 31 st Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine in Düsseldorf, Germany, October 13 17, The format of the dosimetry and therapy meeting has evolved from a series of interesting and important radiopharmaceutical and dosimetry symposia held approximately every 5 years since This series was continued at the EANM Congress 2004 (Helsinki) and the SNM Congress 2009 (Toronto). These symposia were formerly known as ISTARD: International Symposium on Targeted Radiotherapy and Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry. Since 2015 the symposia have been organised annually in parallel with the EANM Congress and the name has been changed to Do.MoRe, emphasising both the importance of dosimetry and the more regular organisation. As a separate track within the EANM Congress, Do.MoRe will aim to bring together all disciplines concerned with radiopharmaceutical dosimetry, physics, radiobiology and molecular radiotherapy, stimulating interdisciplinary scientific discussion. Dosimetry is acquiring a more prominent role with respect to not only nuclear medicine therapy but also radiation protection in nuclear medicine procedures. This is reflected in this year s EANM programme, which features a plenary lecture on To do, or not to do dosimetry? That is the question. As a prelude to Do.MoRe, a pre-symposium is being organised on radiomics, artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in hybrid imaging. Another pre-symposium will present and discuss the methods and value of dosimetry in thyroid cancer therapy. Within the framework of Do.MoRe, several symposia will be organised, one of which will outline the latest ideas from the ICRP and ICRU on treatment planning options for radionuclide therapies. The EANM Dosimetry, Radiation Protection, Physics and Thyroid Committees will coordinate the scientific programme for the meeting jointly. All organisational matters will be handled by the EANM Executive Office. A call for abstracts will go out in the coming months. The deadline for abstract submission is April 25, and authors will be notified about abstract acceptance on June 19, We look forward to welcoming you in Düsseldorf in October 2018! 29 SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME From 13 to 17 October 2018, the Congress will host a unique gathering of clinical scientists, technologists, physicians, physicists, industry representatives and researchers. The EANM Technologist Committee (EANM-TC) has devised a multidisciplinary educational programme with emphasis on the most up-to-date developments in the field of nuclear medicine. Amongst other topics, the programme will provide insights into therapeutic procedures and the role of technologists, particularly in relation to recently introduced procedures, including molecular radiotherapy and PET/ CT-guided external beam therapy. Following the previous year s good experience, we will provide one extra Continuous Technologist Education (CTE) session in order to deliver the planned contents. In total there will therefore be seven CTEs and three Mini Courses (MC). There will be sessions organised jointly with the EANM Neuroimaging and Thyroid Committees. Furthermore, as a reflection of the multidisciplinary and international outreach of our committee, joint sessions will be held with representatives from the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and our American colleagues from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS). As usual, the EANM-TC will be accepting scientific abstracts from nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) and related clinical scientists. It is clear that the high standards and visibility of the EANM Annual Congress guarantee that it will be the perfect opportunity to present original research and clinical works.
