6 Strategic Planning and Budgeting: ACHIEVEMENTS Coordinated over several years participation and advertising at trade shows and festivals related to the television and motion pictures industries in Canada, the United States and Europe for a developing boutique Canadian distribution firm; especially focused on leveraging the most effective use of marketing budget for focused impact on specific client groups. This included research identifying potential clients, and tailoring effective marketing materials and communications to these specific audiences. Created, produced and marketed a television series relating to winter tourism. This included overseeing all aspects of television broadcast, including sales of commercial time within the series, developing and managing relationships with multiple Canadian and American broadcasters and various North American tourist organizations, coordinating and managing production and post-production of completed programs, research and initial contact with all winter travel sites featured in the series, developing marketing campaign, advertising and promotion to facilitate distribution and sales of final program to over 35 overseas markets. Managed budgeting and scheduling for major media productions, with over 200 staff, and budgets over 5 million dollars for short term and ongoing projects. Responsible for day to day management of all expenses, and implementing cost controls. Updated budgeting and forecasting on daily basis by tracking costs with finance on a daily basis. Oversaw all communications with external partners and financiers, and with all affected parties in the location of the productions. Negotiated collective agreements and approved arrangements for all personnel, materials and facilities contracted, employed or utilized. Negotiated with various First Nations and administrators regarding the production of television series and motion pictures on Aboriginal lands. Devised apprenticeship and mentorship programs to ensure participation of First Nations personnel during the course of production. Have participated in the creation of business plans for many organizations, volunteer and private enterprise. Organized and provided fundraising expertise for awards and recognition ceremonies for the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association (now the Alberta Media Production Industries Association). Oversaw the drafting of new bylaws for various organizations, in order to reflect changing circumstances, and to assist in the creation of more inclusive organizations. Created a community based house league minor soccer program, beginning in 2008, which now sees enrollment of over 500 children below the age of 8, and encouraged participation from parents within the community through low enrollment fees, sponsorship support and volunteer participation. 7 Approved and led the creation of a community clean up, which now involves over 500 volunteers annually, to clean the newer communities of West Springs Cougar Ridge in Calgary. Participated in a steering committee which helped create a new Community Garden in West Springs Cougar Ridge in Calgary. Volunteered in multiple roles with the Danish Canadian Club of Calgary, including Casino Chairperson. Created a program where all community residents (in Martindale Community Association, Calgary) were supplied with free community membership as part of a drive to increase participation. Total memberships provided, on a door to door basis, were over 2,400. Board participation increased by 50%, and turn out at community events increased as well. This group now has completed fundraising with other communities and organizations to build the new Genesis Centre of Community Wellness. Business Development: Oversaw the start up of a new media company, developing business plans and operating budgets, focused on the production of television commercials, music videos and longer form programming. Worked with various external broadcasters and creative personnel to coordinate pitches, budgeting and all marketing materials related to new business development. Maintained relationships with various potential client groups in the music industry, broadcasting and agency level. Promoted - through industry events and trade shows - the marketing of completed productions and presales of projects in development. Monitored programming needs of the industry and coordinated development and marketing to dovetail existing projects to new trends and clients.
