He was officially introduced to the world in 2009 with his One Love album that had 3 number one hits on it; he followed that up in 2011 with the Nothing But The Beat album-it had 5 hits on it and has sold over 3 million copies. Last year Billboard crowned When Love Takes Over as the number one dance-pop collaboration of all time, and Guetta has sold over six million albums and over 15 million singles worldwide. As well, in 2011 Guetta was voted the #1 DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100DJ s fan poll. He really was the first DJ to hit the mainstream in a big way. This, his 6 th studio album starts off with a big surprise; the lead track Dangerous is definitely not an EDM number-with vocals by Sam Martin the song is 100% Top 40 pop/ rock. There is a pumped up remix on the deluxe version of the album that is more EDM oriented, and both versions use orchestration and symphonic elements in groundbreaking ways. Actually, all of the songs here have a fresh and unique spark to themfor instance Lift Me Up is a warm, worldbeat oriented number that features Nico and Vinz and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Sun Goes Down is very much a funkedup reggae song that sounds like something The Police would have done-and that s all down to the every Tuesday at 1:00 pm EXCEPT the FIRST Tuesday of every month when it will be held in the evening 6:00 p m. It must have been a total blast for the band to be invited to work with Guetta. There are also a good number of very creative EDM-oriented songs here too; No Money No Love, Hey Mama (with Nicki Minaj), Listen (with John Legend) and Lovers On The Sun all have that EDM element to them, but they also have something that sets them apart from the crowd. When it came to making the album David said that his personal life tempered the process, reflecting his divorce from Cathy Guetta (they were married for 22 years) making this his most personal album yet, to quote him; until today I was doing lots of songs about happiness and love and sexiness and just having a party it was basically my life, you know? And lately, my personal life has been a little more difficult, so it reflects also on the album, on the things that we re talking about, on the type of chords. I ve never done this, because even for me it was all about making the people dance. Those feelings are reflected so very well on the closing track; The Whisperer is a slow, almost melancholic number you d expect from, say Adele, not David Guetta. The song features vocals by longtime Guetta collaborator Sia. It is definitely a heartfelt number, and a wonderful one.
