2 VILLAGE NOTICE Municipal Office News With summer just around the corner please remember that conservation helps everyone! Stage 1 Watering Restrictions are in effect June 1, 2017 You may water lawns, trees, shrubs/flowers/vegetable gardens using hose connected or automatic in-ground sprinklers as follows: ODD # houses can water on ODD # days (July 1, 3, 5, etc) EVEN # houses can water on EVEN # days Property Taxes & Homeowner Grants: Look for your Property Tax Notice in the mail in mid-june. Taxes are due July 31, Your Tax Notice includes a section for a Home Owner Grant (HOG) discount on your property taxes. Home owners over 65 can also claim an additional grant. Full details are on your Tax Notice. If you pay your taxes through your financial institution or through your mortgage company, and are eligible for the HOG, you need to submit your HOG application (at the bottom of your tax notice) to the Village of Port Alice office. Failure to do so before July 31, 2017 will result in a penalty being applied to your account on any outstanding balances. Port Alice Rumble Beach Marina $10 Day Pass for parking and/or launching $60 Annual Pass (tax included) covers parking for one registered vehicle at the marina parking lot, and unlimited launching of your registered boat. Recreational Moorage: $0.85/foot, per day Purchase at: Village of Port Alice Municipal Office, 1061 Marine Drive Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m The Village Office, Public Works & Community Centre will be CLOSED on Monday, July 3rd. Sorry for any inconvenience Village Council Meetings Council Meetings are held the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month in the Village Council Chambers at 7:00 pm. If there is an issue or concern that you wish to address Council about, you may request delegate status by submitting a signed letter of request by 5:00 pm on the Thursday prior to the next meeting. 3 Municipal Office News Rumble Beach Marina & Parking Policies Please place your numbered Rumble Beach Marina Parking & Boat Launch pass on the inside of your driver s side window or on the dashboard. Your Parking & Boat Launch Pass ($60 annual fee or $10 daily) enables you to: * park the vehicle (registered by licence plate# at the Village Office), in the Marina parking lot or overflow parking area across Marine Drive. * launch the boat as registered at the Village Office * park one boat trailer as registered *Parking/Launch Passes may not be used in another vehicle that is not the same household and is registered with the Village. *A second pass within the same household is available for $5-with liscence plate registered with the Village Office. Moorage is on a first come, first serve basis. *Four hours FREE moorage, after that, rates are as follows: Recreational rate: $0.85 per foot (LOA) /per day Commercial rate: $0.20 per foot (LOA) /per day Launch and Parking Pass fees are not included in Moorage fee GENERAL RULES: Fishing is permitted on the dock, with a valid fishing, licence Fish Cleaning Station is located on the dock for your use No fish waste or kitchen waste in marina garbage bins please Crab/Prawn Traps are not allowed in the marina area Lifejackets are available to borrow for free at the Marina, courtesy of the Port Alice Marine Rescue Society NO Swimming, Scuba Diving, or Snorkeling near the marina docks NO Caulk Boots on the dock please Max 5km/hr around the marina, no wake The Marina Manager is responsible for managing the marina, enforcing parking, moorage, and safe practices around the dock.
