Upcycled Placemat- Create your placemat using upcycled cork boards. We will be using sand paper and glues to complete Tuesday 18 th December Christmas Snow Globe - bring a clean jar from home to create your own snow globe. Tanunda Woodland Day Today we will spend the morning outside learning about local plant life and how we can care for our local environment. Please bring a wide brimmed hat and feel free to bring some gardening gloves. Christmas Bauble Cookies decorate and enjoy a festive treat. Wednesday 19 th December Gawler Cinema- The Grinch DEPARTING 8.30AM ***SHARP*** RETURNING 12.30PM Popcorn and Soft drink Deal $5 The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmastime when his neighbours in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realizes there is one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos' holiday cheer once and for all. Christmas Ornaments- Thursday 20 th December Christmas Cooking- Educators will work alongside children to bake and make some of our favourite Christmas treats. Paper Plate Christmas Trees- using paper plates we will create a variety of different Christmas tree decorations glue, cut, create to your hearts content. Friday 21 st December Mount Thebarton Ice Arena DEPARTING 8.30AM ***SHARP*** RETURNING 2.00PM Please pack lunch, water bottle, hat, 2xsocks and warm clothes There is ice-skating on the beginner s rink and then as your confidence grows head out to the main rink. Let s go skating in a winter wonderland. We will go over to Tanunda Primary School in the morning to play and listen to the birds and watch the clouds float by. We will take our recycled plastics to use as moulds to build sandcastles. Tuesday 15 th January Self Care Day - Bath Bombs - It s the middle of the holidays and we will be ready for some down time. Relax and pamper yourself. Casual comfy clothes are a must on this day. Milo Balls- on this day of relaxation lets treat ourselves to a yummy milo bliss ball. Wednesday 16 th January Barossa Art Gallery GooRoo Animation DEPARTING 1230 ***SHARP*** RETURNING 04.30PM The GooRoo Animation Claymation workshop teaches kids how to create their own Claymation movies. The participants will get a behind the scenes glimpse of what goes into producing animation on a professional level. They will then create their own plasticine characters and learn how to bring them to life using the app Stop Motion Studio. The finished videos will be screened to the group and uploaded to YouTube via the GooRoo Animation Workshops channel to be shared with friends and family. The workshop is designed to inspire and provide the knowledge and tools to start making movies at home *** Morning tea will be provided on this day as we will be at the gallery until 4pm. Collection from the gallery will be available with prior notice*** Thursday 17 th January- Hero Dress Up Day- In the October Holidays we asked the children for suggestion of visitors and while we can t make all those suggestions come true we invite you to dress up as your hero or person who inspires you and share that with us. Sports Wall - the sports wall will be running get ready to practice your target shots, beat the clock and work those gross motor skills. Salad Wraps - lets fuel our bodies with delicious salad wraps Friday 18 th January- Excursion- Bush Gardens DEPARTING: 09.45AM ***SHARP*** RETURNING: 12.30PM Please pack lunch, water bottle, hat, long pants and enclosed shoes We will travel by bus to the bush gardens located in Nuriootpa. Barossa Bush gardens boasts seven display gardens, such as the CFS Fire-wise Garden, the Truly Australian Front Garden, the Sensory Garden, the Eremophila Garden, the Sanctuary Garden and The Old Gum Tree tree restoration project. Violet Crumble- an aussie classic educators will work closely with the children as we explore the chemical reaction needed to make honeycomb. A special treat to start our Australian celebrations Tuesday 22 nd January Australia Day Canvas- lets create a masterpiece to celebrate who we are. Using our hands and the colours of our land, we will create a piece of art that is unique to our service. We will have it on display for the rest of the year. Team Games- join with friends old and new and play some team games. Children will contribute with their ideas of what they want to play Wednesday 23 rd January Movie Storm Boy DEPARTING 8.30AM ***SHARP*** RETURNING 12.30PM Popcorn and Soft drink Deal $5 A beautiful and contemporary retelling of Colin Thiele's classic Australian tale. 'Storm Boy' has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can't explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father. He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival. Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives. Thursday 24 th January Wheels Day- bring along your favourite wheels and lets put into practice the safety rules we learnt last holidays at the Road Safety Centre. Don t forget to bring safety gear helmets, knee and elbow pads. We will transform our care space to allow for wheels to be inside should the weather stop us from heading outdoors! Aussie Art- using resources found in our local area we will use these items to create a unique aussieartapiece Friday 25 th January Little Rockets Play Café ***Booking for this excursion will close on Monday 21 st January*** DEPARTING: 09.30AM ***SHARP*** RETURNING: 02.00PM Please pack snacks, water bottle, hat and socks. Lunch will be provided on this day We will head to Little Rockets for a morning of play and fun. Enjoy lunch and celebrate the last day of the holidays with us. 13 GENERAL PARENT INFORMATION ENROLMENTS Barossa Recreation and Fitness Centre - Vacation Care (The Rex) is able to accept Primary School Aged Children. Children can begin the year that they are enrolled to start school, up until the end of their Primary School Education. ARRIVAL - Before we can accept responsibility for your children, we must know that they are in our care. Please initial the daily roll in the Arrive column and show the time of arrival when leaving your children with us. PICK UP Again, we need to know that you have collected your children. Please sign the Daily Role showing the time that you collected your children. Only those persons authorised by you on the information sheet or alternatively by you in writing, may collect your children. LATE PICK UP This program runs between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm weekdays. Please ring us as soon as possible and advise us if you are unable to collect your children within these hours. A fee of $15.00 per child, per 15mins will apply for out of hours care. This is to cover the cost of supervising your children. If this is an ongoing problem for you, please contact the Vacation Care Coordinator and discuss it with them. SUN SAFE POLICY We ask that all children bring a named wide brimmed or bucket hat each day. T-shirts and dresses must cover shoulders no tank tops or thin straps. Sun-cream will be provided for outside play and excursions /OUTSIDE PLAY We try to follow the program as listed but in times of extreme heat or cold we may change outside play to swimming. Please check with educators at drop off what will be taking place for the day. If children forget bathers it may be possible to arrange some spare clothing, again speak to educators. Please wash and return all borrowed clothing. LUNCHES Our program does not allow children to leave to purchase their lunch on excursion days. The canteen is available for lunch orders only. A snack is provided each day. Please send your child with an adequate packed recess, lunch and a drink each day unless otherwise advised.. PAYMENTS All accounts to be finalised within ten working days after the week s session used, reminder notices sent out will incur a fee for overdue accounts. Please note, you will be charged for non-attended days booked. ***When making payment please use REX as reference*** ONCE YOUR BOOKING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, ALL CANCELLATIONS WILL INCUR THE DAILY FEE UNLESS A DOCTORS CERTIFICATE IS PROVIDED.
