2 Welcome! As a registered summer camper at World Class Tae Kwon Do your child can look forward to an exciting and rewarding summer. We are sure that whether they will be with us for just a week or for the entire vacation, that they will make friends, gain new skills, and have fun. In order to have our camp run as smoothly as possible, please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the following information. We also recommend that you post this sheet at home for easy reference. Drop off: Drop off begins at 7:00am. Please plan to bring your child into our facility and sign them in each day. If you know that your child is going to be late, please call to notify the Director. In addition, please be advised that campers not arriving by 9:00 on a field trip day will be the responsibility of their parent/guardian for the day if departure has already occurred. Daily Lunch & Snacks: Daily lunch and snacks will not be provided by our camp. Campers should bring lunch and snack for themselves packed in an insulated lunch bag with ice pack. Every Thursday is Pizza Day! The cost is $5 and includes: pizza, pretzels, a drink box, and a popsicle. The money can be brought in with campers each Thursday. On Fridays, campers will be eating their lunches at Westwood Park. We strongly recommend that lunches be packed in brown disposable bags on those days so that campers do not need to remember to bring their lunch boxes home. Reading Time: World Class Tae Kwon Do promotes and encourages summer reading. Approximately 30 minutes of each day will be set aside for reading time. Younger children will be read to during this period. Older children are encouraged to bring their own reading material. Tae Kwon Do Instruction: All campers will receive approximately minutes of Tae Kwon Do skills and drills four days per week. Every Thursday campers will be taught by a guest master instructor. On Fridays, our park field trip day, there will be no Tae Kwon Do training. In addition, registered Tae Kwon Do students will be encouraged to attend 2 to 3 belt specific classes per week. Camp counselors will escort campers to and from their classes. During classes, students will be supervised by the Tae Kwon Do instructors of that particular class. Tae Kwon Do Uniforms: Campers need to bring a clean, long or short Tae Kwon Do uniform each day. Additional uniforms can be purchased at the front desk. Free Choice Time: During the drop off period from 7:00 to 9:00am and pickup period of 4:30 to 6:00pm campers will participate in supervised free choice time. During this time, board games, paper games, and art supplies will be available. Campers will also be free to use portable game, music, or movie players. Field Trips: Field trips will be held off site on Wednesdays as well as (weather permitting) trips to Westwood Park on Fridays. Please have campers wear socks and sneakers every Friday for our trips to Westwood Park. Campers need to wear their camp T-shirts on both Wednesdays and Fridays. Summer Camp T-Shirts: Campers will receive a T-shirt on the first day of camp. T-shirts must be worn on field trip days (Wednesdays) and park days (Fridays). Additional T-shirts are available for $15. Pick up: Structured activities, other than Tae Kwon Do complete at 4:30pm. Pick up between 4:30 and 6:00pm is considered standard. There will be a late charge for pickup after 6:00pm. All pick ups will be supervised by a staff member. The only people allowed to pick up a camper are those who have been previously identified on the camp registration form. Daily Rate: Registration for campers wishing to attend on a daily (not weekly) basis will be accepted only after May, space permitting. Registrants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The daily rate is $50 per day ($45 for each additional child). Attendance: Campers must be pre-registered prior to attending all camp days. If a camper wishes to attend camp during a week or on a day that he or she was not previously registered for, attendance must be approved ahead of time by the camp director (prior to the date in question). Makeup days are not permitted. These policies are required due to the specific student to instructor ratios that must be maintained based on the number of campers expected. This is standard policy for most reputable day camps and camps. We do not provide tuition refunds for absences for illness or other reasons. Cell Phone: Each camp location has a camp cell phone. We ask that if you need to contact the summer camp staff during camp hours, that you call that phone. The phone numbers of these cell phones will be given out on the weekly schedule that you receive every week. The camp director has this phone on them at all times. Please note that campers are not allowed to use their cell phone at camp and are strongly encouraged to leave them at home. Payments: Payment for camp can be done in one of two ways: payment in full or weekly payment that will be charged automatically to your credit card. Payment in Full: The balance is due 2 weeks prior to your child s first camp session. Weekly: Your credit card will be charged automatically at the start of each week. Any additional weeks or days that are added after the pre-registration period ends will be done only if space permits. Additional weeks or days must be paid for prior to attending camp. The deposit is applied to the last week of camp that your child attends. PRE-CAMP CHECKLIST The following items must be returned to the center your child will be attending (either Lancaster or East Amherst) prior to the start of camp. No registration material can be accepted at the Amherst or Orchard Park locations. Thank you. Medical Form (must be completed by your child s physician). This permission slip will be in effect until summer camp has ended or until I have submitted a written request that sunscreen is no longer to be applied to my child. I understand that I must supply a bottle of sunscreen with my child s name on it on the first day that my child attends summer camp. I authorize World Class Tae Kwon Do to administer, or cause to be administered, medical treatment to my child in the event of an emergency. I understand that, consistent with the circumstances of the situation and time available, World Class Tae Kwon Do may need to contact the local emergency unit before the parent or other adult acting on the parent s behalf is notified. I agree that in the event of an accident, or injury, emergency care may be given to my child by Emergency Services (EMT, emergency room physician, etc.). Parent Signature
