1 Provisional post-show report Successful launch of oohh! The four LeisureWorlds delight visitors and exhibitors Hamburg, 11 February 2018 The premiere of oohh! The Leisure Worlds of Hamburg Messe got a tremendous response from the public. The four LeisureWorlds were held in a total of eleven exhibition halls, giving visitors a blend of adventure, information and networking: REISEN HAMBURG, KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG, CARAVANING HAMBURG, and RAD HAMBURG. For the first time, all four shows were held under the roof of oohh!, covering travel, cruising, campers & caravans, and cycling. The premiere was a great success, said Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress. This new concept is even better targeted to holiday-makers, cruise enthusiasts, campers and cyclists. It worked out really well, as shown by the enormous interest of visitors and the excellent feedback we received from exhibitors. People liked the new direction of the LeisureWorlds, with more emphasis on a wide range of activities, events and opportunities for hands-on try-outs and first-hand experience. Altogether some 800 exhibitors presented their innovations for 2018 on 77,000 square metres of exhibition space. Some 73,000 visitors attended on the five days of the show. A survey by an independent market research agency showed that every second REISEN HAMBURG visitor was mainly interested in city tours, that is less than last year (60% in 2017). The results for campers and caravans were up 10% to 37%. This development was also confirmed by many of the camping and caravan site organisations present at the show. Results were stable for active holidays walking and cycling 34%, cruises 27% and activity holidays 25%. Interest in beach holidays was slightly down (27%, versus 31% in 2017). REISEN HAMBURG also showed a clear trend towards long-distance travel, as forecast by Prof. Ulrich Reinhardt of the Foundation for Future Studies in the German Tourism Analysis for Interest in exotic destinations was up from 62% last year to 67% in At the same time, the popularity of holiday destinations in Germany continued to grow, from 52% last year to 57% this year. All four LeisureWorlds showed clearly that the demand for leisure and holidays continues as strong as ever, said Bernd Aufderheide. People in North Germany are very keen on travel and leisure activities including short trips in Germany, long-distance tours, holidays on the water, camping and cycling. They showed great interest in all the programmes and information provided by us and by the exhibitors. REISEN HAMBURG Dream holiday getaways from North Germany to warmer climates The LeisureWorld of travel was a showcase for exhibitors from Germany and abroad they presented attractive destinations in all parts of the world, new dream trips, and brilliant ideas for short tours. A special highlight at the start of the show was the opening of REISEN HAMBURG by HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, after which she enjoyed a walkaround in the big activity area of Denmark, the official partner country. Mads Schreiner, General Manager Visit Denmark: Our participation as the official partner of REISEN HAMBURG was a great success. We met with great

2 visitor interest right from the start, and it grew even more at the weekend. It was the ideal opportunity to present new Danish destinations and attractions to people in North Germany. The German partner region of REISEN HAMBURG was the Duchy of Lauenburg, which is just outside Hamburg. Günter Schmidt, Chief Executive Duchy of Lauenburg Marketing and Service, summarised it like this: We are extremely pleased with this event. Our programme with musical presentations and lectures was well attended on all the days of the show. We attracted great interest for our activity and recreation holidays, and for events such as the Till Eulenspiegel Festival in Mölln. One of the highlights of the extensive supporting programme at REISEN HAMBURG was the Outdoor Film Festival EOFT on the second day of the show, attracting hundreds of active holiday makers and adventure seekers. There were also plenty of opportunities to try things out, from jungle food with locusts and mealworms to oysters from the North Sea coast, to Bavarian specialities. The ropes course and the activity space by Legoland Billund at the Denmark stand was fun for the whole family. The new thematic focus FOTOHAVEN HAMBURG in Hall B2 got off to a good start. A large number of visitors took this opportunity to attend workshops, go on a photo safari, and find out about various camera models and photo accessories. Exhibitor opinions REISEN HAMBURG: Pilar Wolff-Olloqui of TourSpain, noted that Response was excellent. Visitors from Hamburg and surrounding areas are very keen on Spain, and are looking for insider ideas. This year, people often asked about alternatives to the classic destinations, for example Northern Spain and the interior of the country. We are always very pleased to come to REISEN HAMBURG. Josef Miller, founder of Latin America specialist Miller Reisen: The show has established itself, and it s getting better all the time. We get more bookings at REISEN HAMBURG than we do at other travel shows. Franz Reil, CEO Alpin Consult, said We had visits from lots of people who wanted to find out about the Upper Bavarian and Allgäu regions, and Eastern Bavaria. Our joint activity space was very popular, with presentations and culinary tastings of Bavarian specialities. Achim Sebök, Vice Chair of the Lake Constance Tourism Association: We were pleasantly surprised by the good response, and by the quality of talks with visitors many of them had already found information in advance, and came to us with specific ideas and aims, including a lots of young people. Dirk Bierschwale, founder of triper.one: Our presentation in the New TRAVEL section was very effective. We are a new start-up and have been in the market just for three months. We have an app for networking travellers with hosts throughout the world. We received positive feedback from a great many visitors.

3 Susanne Panozzo, Stand Manager Tamron: There was so much going on at FOTOHAVEN HAMBURG. And visitors were delighted that they were able to try out our lenses straight away. Many of them took the opportunity to go on a photo safari through the exhibition halls. KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG the home port for cruise fans The cruise industry is riding a wave of popularity, and attracted a lot of interest at the new KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG in Hall B5. Visitors to the LeisureWorld for cruise enthusiasts found the ideal setting there, with a ship s deck, pool bar and deckchairs, plus information on offers and innovations from 15 cruise lines. Other exhibitors included organisers of river and ocean cruises, specialist travel agencies, houseboat holiday companies, and yacht charterers. The bandwidth included round-the-world tours on a luxury liner to explorer trips on an expedition ship. The performance stage at Germany s biggest cruise show featured experts such as Christian Baumann, a crew member in the ARD television series Verrückt nach Meer ( Wanna Sea More ), who gave a fascinating talk on ocean travel. Exhibitor opinions KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG: Christina Uken, Sales Manager North at 1AVista Reisen: We are very satisfied and were able to get lots of new business leads. It was obvious that many of the visitors had collected information in advance, and then came to us with specific questions. For example we had questions about trips to the Danube Delta, and about our new ship MS VistaStar, which will be cruising the Rhine from August onwards. Heiner Kubny, CEO and owner PolarNEWS: This show was well worthwhile for us. Visitors were very interested and had specific ideas. Some of them even booked a trip straight off, at our stand. This our sixth time here, and we will be back again next year. Alfonso Escobar, Director Marketing & Sales Amadeus Flusskreuzfahrten (river cruises): The show exceeded our expectations. We were able to reach our target group and had many excellent talks. In particular, we were surprised and very pleased at the good response on the first days of the show. CARAVANING HAMBURG season start and meeting point for campers The first CARAVANING HAMBURG was all about mobile homes and holidays on four wheels. Exhibitors from Germany and abroad presented a wide range of products for campers new caravans and camper vans, motorhomes and tents, innovative accessories and individual upgrade solutions. A special exhibition space for potential newcomers, called Camping und Mee(h)r ( Camp and Sea More ), specifically targets visitors who want a taster of camping life. It comprises an authentic caravan site setting where they can find out about the many possibilities and different modes of mobile holiday making. The exhibitors reported continued strong interest in holiday and leisure vehicles. Exhibitor opinions CARAVANING HAMBURG Paul Geominy, Sales Manager North Knaus Tabbert, said: It was a very successful show for us. This was our third time here, and each time we have done better out of it. In some cases we were

4 even able to take orders for the models out next season. In particular, there was lively interest in our Deseo. Stephan Dölling, Sales Eura Mobil: We were very pleased. The general upbeat trend in the industry was also reflected at this show. This year we invested more in it, and the results were excellent we made substantially more sales than in Michael Herzig, Sales Manager VW Commercial Vehicles Hamburg: For us, CARAVANING HAMBURG is always a key indicator at the start of the year. We made good sales and are satisfied. The star of our stand was the California XXL, which we presented here for the first time in North Germany. We will be back again in Patrick Hintermayer, Transport Sales Unit Mercedes Benz: Demand for our leisure campers was substantial at CARAVANING HAMBURG. Our X-Class, a recent addition to our range, proved itself to be an eye catcher. Our stand was well attended, especially at the weekend. Ralf Schwarz, Stand Manager Kerkamm Camping Caravan Freizeit: The show demonstrated the continuing high level of interest in campervans. Also the sharp rise in demand for rental campervans. RAD HAMBURG e-bikes and test track very popular RAD HAMBURG is the new LeisureWorld for cyclists and e-bikers. It was held in its own hall for the first time, showcasing manufacturers, dealers and destinations with a wide range of offers for cycling fans and activity holiday-makers. It covered everything from the latest electric bikes, new accessories and all the relevant equipment, to specially selected two-wheel tours. Visitors were particularly attracted by the hands-on opportunities at the test track, enabling them to test-ride and compare the characteristics of e-bikes and pedelecs. The skills circuit was a big favourite with children. The cycle stage was a big crowd puller when long-distance cyclists described their amazing experience on round-the-world tours. The varied programme included experts giving useful tips on safe, stress-free cycling. Exhibitor opinions RAD HAMBURG: Sören Gildemeister of Zweiradhaus Ellerbrock: We are more than satisfied with the response. Our e-bikes attracted great interest, and people were keen to take up the chance of test rides. We even sold some models directly at the stand. Patrick Meyer, Regional Representative North of Hercules: We were very busy on all the days of the show. E-bikes are very much the trend, as was evident at this show. The younger visitors were interested in sports bikes. We were very happy with the big track for test rides. Andreas Preusse, responsible for the Schleswig-Holstein region at HNF Heisenberg: The show was well worthwhile for us. Our stand was crowded with interested visitors right from the start, and we were able to gain many new customer leads.

5 For the sixth time now, the motor show AUTOTAGE HAMBURG was held concurrently with oohh! at the exhibition site, and has become a regular fixture in the calendar of new car buyers. This year we set up a new record, with more vehicle models under one roof than ever before. More than 1,000 visitors and potential buyers took the opportunity of a test drive on site, said Nina Kause, Project Director AUTOTAGE HAMBURG. New features this year included the road safety track in front of the hall, and a daily programme of presentations about cars. Our exhibitors were able to sell lots of vehicles during the show. We are delighted with this response. The next oohh! The Leisure Worlds of Hamburg Messe will be held from 6 to 10 February 2019, again with REISEN HAMBURG, KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG, CARAVANING HAMBURG and RAD HAMBURG on one site.
