Aircraft maintenance teams are now finding ways to effectively harness this airplane data to drive predictive analytics that can help reduce operational disruptions and enable a more proactive approach to maintenance. This presentation will discuss a collaborative project in work for Boeing and Japan Airlines (JAL) involving application of analytics to enable a more predictive approach to aircraft maintenance. By creating predictive models for the JAL fleet using full-flight sensor data, advanced warnings are provided to maintenance crews before aircraft components fail. This approach will ultimately result in fewer flight disruptions and reduced costs for JAL, by proactively deploying scheduled maintenance tasks for those components, instead of dealing with unscheduled and unplanned maintenance events. Takashi Takemura, Staff Manager - Engineering Project Office, JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. Robert Leitch, Principal Data Scientist - Advanced Analytics, The Boeing Company

7 MRO / M&E IT TRACK (Main Conference room) FLIGHT OPERATIONS IT TRACK (Workshop / Showcase room) 09:30-10:00 Airline Case Study: AirAsia Line Maintenance Mobility Solutions In this case study, we hear from a major airline who outlines its use of a next generation App focusing on Line Maintenance. The App is fully synched with the airlines M&E IT solution and is designed to resolve an aircraft s defects on landing through recording the completion of the work or the deferral and its troubleshooting. The accompanying dashboard shows a layout display of aircraft soon to land and depart with a countdown timer along with access to the associated defects. The case study reveals the benefits the airline is enjoying from this mobile solution leading to quicker and more reliable aircraft turn-around times. Tommy Saputo, Connectivity and Engineering Data Management, AirAsia 10:00-10:30 OEM Digital Innovations: Airbus - Advanced Big Data and Data Analytics In 2017 Airbus launched its new digital open platform Skywise. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an upcoming technology that allows software robots to mimic actions that human users of M&E/MRO software would normally perform, however is able to perform this faster and without the existence of potential human error. As such RPA has a huge potential in supporting airline Airworthiness Management and Maintenance departments in freeing up their staff to focus on the things that really matter rather than performing dull and repetitive tasks. More than a year ago, EXSYN and Vueling started their collaboration on RPA and since then a software robot has been creating all overnight maintenance work packages for Vueling s entire fleet of 100+ aircraft. During this keynote presentation the various aspects of Robotic Process Automation will be explained, followed by a methodology on how airlines can start themselves with applying Robotic Process Automation and is rounded off with a look at how RPA has helped Vueling in their day-to-day business.
