2 Introduction This summary shows the main routes on which journeys are disrupted or amended for the dates shown above. Alterations may affect other areas and passengers are advised to check journey times with National Rail Enquiries before travelling, via or Replacement buses are unable to carry bicycles or non-folding prams, and may depart early to maintain connections. For further information regarding Cross-London Connections go to Long-Term Service Alterations Long-term emergency repairs affect two routes: Folkestone-Dover (damage to sea wall): This route, closed since Christmas 2015, is expected to reopen on 5 September. Leeds-Carlisle (land slip): until March Passengers must check journey times before travelling, either with National Rail Enquiries or the individual train operators. England-South Wales: 12 September-21 October For 12 September-21 October inclusive the Severn Tunnel will be closed, affecting many trains between England-South Wales and some associated routes Paddington-South Wales: Services reduced in frequency and diverted with journey times extended by minutes. Many do not call at Bristol Parkway, which is served by alternative services from/to Paddington. Portsmouth/Taunton-Cardiff: Trains replaced by buses between Bristol Parkway-Newport, with journey times extended by up to 30 minutes. Paddington/Swindon-Gloucester-Cheltenham: Some services on this route will be re-timed to accommodate the diverted Paddington-South Wales trains.
