Anglia Winter Key Route Strategy (KRS) 2017/18 This is an overview of the train service plan should Key Route Strategy be declared. The principle of the KRS is to ensure we can run a service during conditions in which even with point heaters on point work would still be overwhelmed this could be due to forecasted heavy snowfall within a short period of time or the cumulating effect after multiple days of snowfall. It is possible that the KRS could be implemented on some lines of route but not others due to the geographical spread of the route. This will be communicated out as necessary before implementation of the KRS. *When KRS is implemented the route availability will be from 0600 to 2200 in line with staffing availability of Snow men. Respective SPOC s and deputies for Anglia Route KRS: TOC SPOC Deputy Greater Anglia Gold On-call C2C GTR Gold On Call ARL Control Shift Manager TFL Rail Greater Anglia Once units are marshalled for the day s service, there are no planned split/attach moves within the plan. This does lead to additional ECS moves to and from depots, but makes the overall plan more robust. Longer distance services have longer turn rounds at destinations. All trains have been given extra running time and dwell time at stations, to allow for the conditions. Classes 317 and 321, limited to 60mph, and as such times have been adjusted to reflect this. West Anglia: Sub lines only, platforms 1-7, at Bethnal Green, services towards Seven Sisters Sub line to Hackney Downs, all other services via the Fast Lines Mainline: Main lines only to Shenfield and platform 8-14 The below is a summary of service for each of the three areas, on a route by route basis.
North Area: Norwich to Cambridge Saturday service, longer turnarounds at Norwich. Ipswich to Cambridge Saturday service with slightly longer journey times and longer turnarounds at Cambridge. Ipswich to Peterborough Saturday service with minor re-timings. Norwich to Lowestoft Saturday service with minor-retimings. All other Routes All other North area routes are not included in the plan, due to Network Rail not guaranteeing the point work being available en route. Services to be run as appropriate under control arrangements, based on available resources. South East Area: London to Southend Victoria 2 TPH all day increasing to 4 TPH in the peaks. All trains 12 coaches Wickford to Southminster 1 Shuttle Train in service 90min frequency if points at Wickford and Fambridge allow. London to Colchester / Ipswich 2 TPH calling all stations, all trains 12 coaches. 1 TPH London Colchester. Class 321s. 1 TPH London Ipswich. Class 360s. Additional peak services will operate to/from Colchester to London. London to Norwich 1 TPH all day plus 3 extra services in the peaks. Witham to Braintree 1 TPH, 60min frequency with Witham connections with mainline services. Colchester to Clacton 1 TPH shuttle service, all stations except Colchester Town. All trains 8 coaches Additional peak services will operate to/from Clacton to London (12 coaches). Thorpe LS to Walton on the Naze 1 TPH 60min frequency connecting at Thorpe LS with Clacton services. If local conditions allow (i.e. points at Thorpe le Soken and Kirby Cross. Manningtree to Harwich Town 1 TPH 60min frequency connecting at Manningtree with mainline services if local conditions allow (i.e. points at Manningtree and Harwich International).
West Area: London to Bishop s Stortford 1 TPH calling Tottenham Hale, then all stations from Ponders End to Bishop s Stortford with 1 TPH calling Northumberland Park. No service to Stratford from West Anglia. All trains 8 coaches. London to Stansted Airport 2 TPH calling Tottenham Hale, Harlow Town and Bishop s Stortford with 1 TPH calling Stansted Montfichet. All class 379 and 8 coaches. London to Cambridge 2 TPH, Saturday timetable with revised timings and stopping patterns. All class 379 and 8 coaches. Broxbourne to Hertford East 1 TPH 60min frequency using one train connecting at Broxbourne with mainline services. If local conditions allow (i.e. points at Broxbourne, Broxbourne Junction, Ware and Hertford East). These trains are shown as Q paths in the bid, and will have crew allocated to them. Control to liven up trains in systems if able to operate. Cambridge to King s Lynn GTR will operate an hourly shuttle from Cambridge to King s Lynn. No GA services. TFL Rail London to Shenfield (Metro) Services to run every 10 mins, but run fast from Ilford to Stratford in the peak direction during the peaks. Supplementary Gidea Park / Chadwell Heath services may be introduced to serve Manor Park, Forest Gate and Maryland. All TfL Rail services between Liverpool Street and Shenfield will have an additional 5 minute journey time during snow level 2 & 3. London to Brentwood Saturday timetable, 10 minute frequency, with VSTP enhancements. All trains 8 coaches. Potential for additional services during peak hours. All TfL Rail services between Liverpool Street and Brentwood will have an additional 5 minute journey time during snow level 2 & 3. Arriva Rail London Romford to Upminster Point work to get unit on branch not covered by Network Rail staff, significant risk to disruption of mainline services if points fail when accessing branch. However, a service may run on Romford - Upminster if there is already a
unit on the branch when the KRS is implemented. London to Chingford Saturday timetable, 15 minute frequency. All trains 8 coaches. Chingfords to run on the fast lines London to Cheshunt No services. London to Enfield Town Saturday timetable, 15 minute frequency during peak hours and 30 minute service off peak. All trains 8 coaches. All service to run on the sub lines. North London Line / West London Line 3 TPH will be running in each direction between Clapham Jn and Stratford. There will be no service between Willesden Jn and Richmond. ARL is doing this in order to minimize the use of points at Willesden Jn. The Willesden-Clapham service is much busier (with fewer alternatives) than the Willesden Richmond service. Although NR Sussex have stated that they cannot man the WLL as part of their KRS, it has been indicated by Sussex and LNW Routes that routes at Latchmere and Mitre Bridge Junctions respectively will be secured in ARL s favour, using P17 at Clapham Jn. DC Line Not Anglia route but no service will run. Gospel Oak Barking Line 3 TPH all day. East London Line 3 TPH Highbury West Croydon 4 TPH Dalston Jn New Cross. No service to Crystal Palace. Points to note are that we will need Kensal Green Jn, Camden Rd West Jn, and Gospel Oak Jn available and be able to get units to/from East Ham to get ARL ECSs in the right place. Away from the Anglia Route ARL will need the New Lines to be fully accessible from Willesden Jn and be able to turn ECS moves at Queen s Park. - C2C There are two timetable options; Snow Plan and Snow Plan Lite The core service pattern will be: London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness via Laindon London Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via Rainham Upminster Grays via Ockendon Mainline:
Up Road: 4 TPH until 0935 then 2tph to 1405, then 4tph until 1905 then 2tph. Services will call at all stations via Laindon. Down Road: 4 TPH until 0930hrs, 2 TPH until 1430hrs, 4 TPH until 2030hrs then 2 TPH until end of service. Platform 2 at Laindon and Leigh on Sea are expected to be unavailable, as are Platforms 1 & 4 at Southend Central. Train Length: Services will operate in 8-car fixed formation with coupler bags fitted on each leading end. Rainham / Tilbury: Down Road: 2 TPH all day Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via the Down Tilbury Line, Platform 7 Barking, Platform 2 at Grays and Platform 3 at Pitsea. Up Road: 2 TPH all day to Fenchurch Street via the Up Tilbury Line Platform 1 at Grays, Platform 8 at Barking and the Up Main Line calling at all intermediate stations. Platform 4 at Pitsea is to be used until 0620 hours. Train Length: Services will operate in 8-car fixed formation with coupler bags on each leading end. Ockendon: Single Train Working. Services will use Platform 1 at Ockendon and the Reversible Line (3rd Line) at West Thurrock Junction to Platform 3 at Grays. Ockendon passing loop unavailable. Require access to single line to lock-in and extract the unit from the branch. The unit will run with coupler bags on each leading end.
