2 About SGCCC The South Georgia Classic Car Club was founded in April, 1984 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of special interest automobiles. The Driver s Seat is the official publication of the SGCCC. It is printed, published, and distributed during the last week of each month to all club members. When the air cleared there were 40 cars & trucks and over 250 bikes participating in the show. The Harley- Davidson Dealership has a magnificent facility and staff that lent itself to an enjoyable time for all. The TODD WILLIAMS BAND played music from the 50 s, 60 s & 70 s throughout the day with Todd doing quite a Jerry Lee Lewis rendition on their last song -- Great Balls Welcome New Members Tim & Tammy Sears Richard & Sharon Rykard Afire. He played the keyboard, with every part of this body, to the delight of the audience. Richard Runnalls with his 1932 Chevy and Chester Speed with his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang both brought plaques back to Valdosta. Weather was good, little hot, and a good time was had by all. Good turn-out of SGCCC Members and great to see some of the ladies along for the ride.

3 Minutes President s Report August 4, 2015 Meeting: the August meeting was convened by club President Rick Hastings at 6:50 pm at Austin s Cattle Company. The opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were led by David Boyd and Rick Hastings respectively. There were 24 members and 1 guest in attendance. Rick opened the meeting by welcoming our newest members Tim & Tammy Sears and Richard & Sharon Rykard. Minutes: the July minutes were read by club Secretary Bob Raffaele and approved by those present. Treasurer s Report: the July report presented by club Treasurer Donna Roberson was approved by those present. Old Business: Both the cruise to Barney for peaches and ice cream and the cruise to the Bradley Country Store and Tallahassee Auto Museum were enjoyed by the many members who participated. The club s new trailer is on hand for inspection. Thanks to Walt and Chris for the interior work and club lettering on the exterior. New Business: Rick introduced Kathy Walker of the Lake Park Chamber of Commerce. She presented a plaque to the club in appreciation for our support and participation in their events. Dan Bremer was also given a plaque for always supplying his antique fire truck at chamber events. Charles Terry brought members up to date on the Fall Car Show and the proposed classes and trophies. In addition to the top twenty awards there also will be trophies for the numerous best categories. And due to the cost of these trophies, sponsors are needed to underwrite the cost. A motion by Bob Barrett was made and seconded to set the sponsorship fee at $50 per trophy. By a 16 to 7 vote, the measure was defeated. A subsequent motion by Madonna Terry to set the fee at $25 per trophy was seconded and passed unanimously. All are invited to attend the Fall Show planning meeting on 8/11 where the classes will be refined. Logan Birdsong, Jim Kelty, and Fred & Donna Roberson received 10 and 15 year membership pins. The temps will be cooling, at least some, the days will become shorter and shorter, and, of course, the beginning of high school, college and pro football. So purchase your season tickets and get ready to rumble. And get ready for much nicer weather to attend our cruise-ins and whatever car shows are close enough to attend. And let me take this opportunity to welcome our new club members. We have had several new folks to join in the past few months and I/we all look forward to getting to know you good folks and to share our hobby of classic cars. Our club s 32 nd Annual Fall Classic Car and Truck Show scheduled for November 7 th is getting closer and closer. The Organizing Committee has been hard at work planning what we all hope to be our best show ever. Participation by all club members in planning this show is necessary, so if you have not volunteered to be a part of this process, please do so now. Specific committees consist of parking, judging, hospitality, registration, trophy and door prizes, marketing and advertising, and entertainment to name just a few. So everyone please join in the fun. We had a very fun and enjoyable day long cruise to the Tallahassee Auto Museum on Saturday, August 1. Thank you to Logan Birdsong and Bill Higgins for planning out a great route. We also cruised up to Barney, GA, to the Brooks Burton peach shed for some great homemade ice cream. The 2 nd Saturday cruise-in for August was very well attended by both participants and spectators thanks to cooler weather and no rain in the forecast. Thank you Mr. Weatherman. Upcoming events include the club s monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 8 th, 6-8pm at Austin s Cattle Company. Our Second Saturday cruise-in will be September 12 th, 5:30-8:30pm and the 3 rd Thursday cruise-in will be September 17 th, 5:30-8:30 as well. On Saturday, September 19 th, Agri-Supply on US84W will be hosting their semi-annual Customer Appreciation Day--they have invited us to have a cruise in that day which has been scheduled from 10am to 2pm. Food and beverages will be provided by Agri-Supply. 4 - Logan Birdsong Saturday, August 1 st found members of the SGCCC and South Georgia Corvette Club embarking on a back-roads cruise from Valdosta to Bradfordville, Florida and on to Tallahassee, Florida. Our first stop was Bradley s Store in Bradfordville where we all enjoyed our picnic lunch along with their world famous sausage dogs. Bradley s Store was built in 1927 and has operated continuously in the same building since then. Their world famous sausage recipe was created in 1927 and is still produced on location today. From there, we journeyed on to the Tallahassee Auto Museum. There we were amazed at the vast variety of items on display. In addition to an outstanding collection of antique, classic, muscle cars and trucks there was one of the largest knife collections; pedal car display; largest Bat mobile collection; vast collection of outboard motors; boats/canoes; Steinway pianos and many more items too numerous to mention. If you haven t been All-Day Cruise to Tallahassee there, you owe it to yourself to take a tour. Cost is $15.00 per person or, with ten (10) or more it is $10.00 per person. 5 Tallahassee Cruise (cont d) For those of you that missed this outing, let me encourage you to keep abreast of future events and be a part of the fun. The fellowship and travel with other club members is part of what the club is all about. If you have a suggestion for a future cruise, please make Rick, or one of the officers, aware of it. As you can see, we had our own mobile parade drawing attention all along our route. We went through Quitman, Georgia with a Police escort. We were on back-roads & canopy roads most of the way. It was great to see so many ladies on the trip. From comments I heard, they enjoyed Bradley s Store and the Tallahassee Auto Museum as much as the guys.

Labor Day - marking the end of summer vacation - and the The Autumnal Equinox - marking the official end of summer are this month. Temperatures are finally beginning to moderate, and the feeling of fall is in the air most mornings. Football season is in full swing and Baseball season is winding down. Scholl is back in session and hunting season is just around the corner. Before we know it, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years will be upon us! Time to get some cruises in, and make sure we make it to the Annual Fall Classic Car and Truck Show. More members are still needed in the planning and preparation for this show. The club took a couple of cruises during August several went on the cruise to the Tallahassee Car Museum and several went to the Tifton Cruise at the Harley Davidson Dealership. Thanks to Logan Birdsong for reports and photos from these activities. Enjoy them in this issue.
