The reporting party said he saw the male holding a machete who told him that he was mad at one of his neighbors. The reporting party said once the subject saw the patrol vehicle approaching, the subject then put the machete in a car. The subject, a 41-year old Daly City resident, was eventually placed on a 72-hour hold for being a danger to others. Once he was released from the hospital, he was booked on charges of criminal threats, threatening a police officer, brandishing of a deadly weapon, and for committing a felony while out on bail. On Monday, , at 11:40 p.m., Officer Benjamin Wagnon was on Bryant Street near Washington Street as he drove past a vehicle with a subject inside who attempted to hide from him as he drove by. Officer Wagnon conducted a license plate check and found it belonged to a Jeep, yet the vehicle that he was looking at was a Ford. Officer Wagnon noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Wagnon asked the subject if he had a medical marijuana card, and the subject replied that he did. The subject consented to the officer s request to search his vehicle. The 21-year old Daly City resident was found to be in possession of marijuana packaged for sales and prescription pills without a prescription. The subject was arrested for those charges, as well as transporting marijuana with the intention of selling it and for committing a felony while out on bail. On Friday, at 8:52 p.m., Officer Karen Douglas stopped a bicyclist for not having a light on the rear of his bike on Serramonte Boulevard near Gellert Boulevard. The subject, a 27-year old San Francisco resident, was on probation for possession of a controlled substance. Officer Douglas asked the subject if he had anything illegal on him, and he said he did not. The officer asked if she could search the subject s backpack, and he said he had a BB gun inside the backpack. Inside the backpack was a clear baggie with a white powdery substance in it, a

2 canister labeled pepper spray and a replica firearm that did not have an orange tip to distinguish it as a replica firearm. The subject admitted to using heroin five to six times a day. The subject was then arrested for possession of pepper spray, possession of an imitation firearm with altered markings and for possession of drug paraphernalia. On Friday, at 11:07 p.m., Officer Taylor Johnson conducted a traffic stop at Warwick Street and Morton Drive. The driver admitted he had a suspended license. Officer Johnson noticed that the driver, a 33-year old Daly City resident, was exhibiting traits of being under the influence. The subject had been arrested numerous times before for sales of methamphetamine. The officer asked the subject if he had anything illegal in his vehicle, and the subject replied no and consented to a search. With the assistance of K-9 Utah, a large quantity of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. The subject was arrested for possession of controlled substance for sales, transporting a controlled substance with the intent to sell and for driving on a suspended license. On Saturday, at 4:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Palisades Park on a report of a man who had fallen off a cliff. Officers located three subjects a 29 year old male who was fatally injured and two injured males. The two males were airlifted out of the beach area and transported to San Francisco General Hospital. On Saturday, at 8:30 p.m., officers from Pacifica, South San Francisco and Daly City were conducting a joint minor decoy operation using funds from a grant from the department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. 18 and19-year old decoys were sent into the Vallarta Night Club to purchase a beer and were able to do so. The bartender was cited for serving to minors. On Sunday, at 4:22 a.m., Officer Kelly Lemere was dispatched to the 500 block of Hanover Street on a report of an in-progress auto burglary. The reporting party chased the subject to Whittier Street and Hanover Street where he had him detained. Officers searched the subject, a 34-year old San Francisco resident, and found a shaved key, as well as a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine. When the officer returned to the vehicle, she found a large pair of scissors with one of the blades jammed into the ignition. The subject was arrested for auto burglary, attempted auto theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of burglary tools and for two outstanding warrants. On Sunday, at 7:55 p.m., Sergeant Eddie Klier overheard radio traffic regarding a subject who said he was recently the victim of an attempted robbery. He saw a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description and conducted a traffic stop at Westridge Drive and Highway 35. The driver displayed signs of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Officer Garrett McKenzie arrived to cover Sergeant Klier and asked the driver if he had anything illegal in his possession, and the driver, a 33-year old Rohnert Park resident, said he had a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket. He also had methamphetamine in his pocket. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, probation violence and an outstanding no bail probation violation warrant. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week. Residential Burglaries There were two residential burglaries and three attempted burglaries during the past week.

3 On Thursday, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:53 p.m., a residence on the 700 block of South Mayfair Avenue was burglarized. Entry was made via an unsecured kitchen window accessed from the backyard. Loss was cash, jewelry, laptops, purses and other miscellaneous items. On Thursday, between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., a residence on the unit block of Woodrow Street was burglarized. Entry was made via a pry to the front security gate and front door of the residence. The loss has yet to be determined. On Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m., a resident on the unit block of Bacon Court reported that two subjects were attempting to break into his neighbor s home by prying the rear screen window. One subject was described as a Filipino male, 45 years, short hair and a white tee shirt and the other subject was described as either a black male or Hispanic male, 45 years old, short curly hair, wearing an orange vest. The neighbor approached the subjects to ask who they were, and they fled in an early 2000 s tan Ford Mustang. On Thursday, at 4:38 p.m., two residents on the 500 block of South Hill Boulevard reported that they were in their office and heard someone attempting to gain access into their residence through a bedroom sliding glass door window. They interrupted the subject, described as a Hispanic male adult, years old, 5 7, medium complexion, thin build, black 2 spiked hair that was gelled up, white shirt with an unknown design on the front, baggy pants or shorts and was wearing a backpack that appeared to be stuffed with items. The subject fled when he was confronted by the residents. No entry was made. Between 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, , a residence on the 500 block of South Hill Boulevard was the victim of an attempted burglary. The resident found a box cutter near a sliding glass door. No entry was made. Commercial Burglaries There was one commercial burglary during the past week. Between 10:15 p.m. on Friday, and 8:00 a.m. on , the House of Sisig restaurant on Junipero Serra Boulevard was the victim of a burglary. The suspect entered the business via the front door and took currency. The investigation is continuing. Vehicle Burglaries There were thirteen vehicle burglaries during the past week. 500 King Drive (parking lot) nothing taken from a 2007 Jeep Cherokee. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 8:30 p.m. on and 6:00 a.m. on block of Barbara Lane a GPS unit, Nikon camera, tools, iphone, radio and miscellaneous papers were taken from a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 8:00 a.m. on block of Palmcrest Drive a GPS unit and a charging cord was taken from a 2012 Honda Crosstour. The driver s window was smashed. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on and 8:00 a.m. on

4 Pacifica Archery parking lot a laptop bag containing an Apple Macbook Pro and tablet was taken from a 2007 Landrover. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 500 block of Abbot Avenue miscellaneous tools were taken from a 2011 Ford E250. The passenger door lock was pried and removed. Occurred on between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. 500 King Drive (parking lot) nothing taken from a 2014 Ford Fusion. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on and 8:30 a.m. on **On-line report. Val s Restaurant parking lot a backpack containing a Samsung Galaxy tablet and other computer-related equipment was taken from a 2007 Jeep Cherokee. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 7:18 p.m. Sizzler Restaurant parking lot two backpacks containing miscellaneous school work were taken from a 2011 GMC Acadia. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m block of Mission Street a ring was taken from a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on at 9:53 a.m. **An arrest was made in this case. Celia s Restaurant parking lot luggage containing a PC, tablet, thumb drives, clothes, shoes and jewelry was taken from a 2004 Cadillac Escalade. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Moonstar Restaurant parking lot nothing taken from a 2012 Lexus SUV. The rear window was shattered. Occurred on between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Sizzler Restaurant parking lot a purse containing cash was taken from a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 500 block of Hanover Street nothing was taken from a 1998 Toyota Corolla. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on at 4:22 a.m. *Subject was arrested. Stolen Vehicles There were five stolen vehicles in the last week. Two were recovered. 100 block of Santa Cruz Avenue 1993 Nissan pickup. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on and 5:00 a.m. on **Recovered by San Ramon P.D. on King Drive/Arley Court 1990 Honda Accord. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 9:00 a.m. on Unit block of Southridge Way 1993 Honda Accord. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on and 6:30 a.m. on **Recovered by San Francisco CHP on block of San Jose Avenue 1999 Honda Civic. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 6:00 p.m. on Hillcrest Drive/Santa Barbara Avenue 2010 Cadillac Escalade. Occurred between 6:30 p.m. on and 8:45 a.m. on Scams/Other Car Loan Scam This recently occurred in Mountain View, but it could occur here. A victim received a text message claiming his $10,000 car loan had been approved. The victim called the number and spoke with an unknown subject who identified himself as John Walker with USA Cash Network. Mr. Walker requested the victim send $850 via a MoneyPak card to receive the loan

5 electronically. Believing the subject worked for a third party vendor of the San Mateo Credit Union, the victim loaded the MoneyPak cards and provided the subject with the authorization numbers. However, when additional fees were required, the victim contacted the credit union and learned they do not work with USA Cash Network or any third party banks on loan issues. Community Events Citizen s Academy (September 25-November 20, 2014) Are you a Daly City resident who would like to have a basic understanding of how your local government works? Daly City is now accepting applications for its Seventh Annual Citizens Academy. This free nine week course takes place once a week on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at City Hall. Optional field trips will take place on one or two Saturdays. Citizens Academy students will participate in both classroom presentations and discussions, along with hands-on activities. Daly City Council Adopts Urgency Ordinance to Regulate Outdoor Water Use On August 11, the City Council adopted an urgency ordinance regulating outdoor water use to conform with the emergency drought regulations recently adopted by the State Water Resources Control Board. Daly City s urgency ordinance prohibits residents from: Washing down driveways and sidewalks. Watering outdoor landscapes that cause visible runoff. Using a hose to wash an automobile, unless the hose is fitted with a shut-off nozzle. Using potable water in non-recirculated ornamental fountains. In addition, outdoor irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and limited to no more than two days per week (Sunday through Saturday) Violations of the ordinance will result in a documented issuance of a written warning notice. If violations continue, then fines starting at $250 with a maximum of $1,000 may be issued per violation.
