1 Crime statistics at a glance: 8/28 9/10 9/11-9/17 Year to Date Robberies attempted Residential Burglaries attempted Commercial Burglaries attempted Vehicle Burglaries attempted attempted attempted Stolen Vehicles attempted When I mention the unit block of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street. Notable Cases On Thursday, at 3:41 p.m., subsequent to a check on occupants of a parked vehicle at King Drive and Gellert Boulevard, Officer Perez arrested an 18-year old Daly City resident for possession for sales of marijuana and transportation for sales of a controlled substance (Xanax). On Friday, at 3:02 p.m., Sergeant Mattos and Officer Clinkscales were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Niantic Avenue on a report of a subject who believed he was being followed by another subject. The reporting party told the officers that Danny Smith had put a tracker inside of his phone which is why he was able to follow him. Officers noticed that the subject, a 51-year old Daly City resident, was unable to control the movement of his fingers and was blinking his eyes uncontrollably. Believing the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance, Officer Clinkscales told the subject he was going to conduct some field sobriety tests on him. After doing so, the officer determined the subject was, indeed, under the influence. The subject admitted to using methamphetamine before going to work that day. Officers arrested the suspect for being under the influence of a controlled substance. On Saturday, at 5:47 a.m., a 31-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after being involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Bel Mar Avenue and Crestwood Drive. On Saturday, at 11:02 a.m., Officer Grogan was dispatched to a collision with unknown injuries at the intersection of Junipero Serra Boulevard and D Street. While enroute to the scene, Officer Grogan was advised that one of the vehicles fled after getting into an altercation between the involved parties regarding a road rage incident. The driver who stayed at the scene said he was driving on 2 nd Avenue approaching A Street when an unknown subject in a red Prius cut him off, almost causing a collision. He said moments later, he passed the vehicle, and then the vehicle followed him and stopped at a red light. The driver/victim then said the subject in the Prius parked to
2 his right approximately three feet away and walked in front of his car and yelled, Get out of the car. The victim said he became scared for his wife in the passenger seat and his two children in the rear seat. The victim said the subject walked around and kicked the driver s side window, causing it to break. The victim s wife suffered a laceration on the top of her hand from the glass. The victim said the subject then walked around to the front passenger window, reached into the vehicle and took the driver s cell phone from the center console. The suspect then went back into his vehicle, and the victim accelerated his vehicle into the driver s door of the Prius in an attempt to stop the subject from fleeing. The victim s vehicle collided with the suspect s vehicle, but the Prius was still able to leave. The victim was able to get the license number of the suspect vehicle. Officer Grogan went back to the station to locate the registered owner of the suspect vehicle when he heard on the radio that Broadmoor Police Department received a 911 call regarding a hit and run in the area where the victim drove. Officer Grogan called the number of the reporting party, and he said the reporting party was rude and would not answer questions. The officer believed the reporting party was actually the suspect in the incident. Shortly after, Broadmoor P.D. received another call of a hit and run, and the caller was the same person. The officer asked if he was involved in a hit and run collision, and the caller agreed to come to the Police Department to talk about the incident. The caller (suspect), a 25-year old Burlingame resident, came to the station and was subsequently arrested for robbery and vandalism. On Sunday, at 5:09 a.m., a 36-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after officers found him in his disabled vehicle in the middle of Bel Mar Avenue and Fairlawn Avenue. The driver said he couldn t get the vehicle to move, and officers noticed major front passenger side damage to the vehicle. On Sunday, at approximately 4:35 p.m., a 50-year old Daly City resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon after she was shot in the eye with a pellet gun by a 15-year old South San Francisco resident. This occurred following a verbal confrontation in the area of the unit block of Midway Court. Officers arrested the subject and booked him into the Youth Services Center. A request is sent to the juvenile court to charge the 11-year old friend of the suspect with conspiracy to commit a crime. A complaint is also sought for his other friend, a 13-year old San Francisco resident, for being in possession of burglary tools and for obstructing a police officer. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment to her eye. Robberies There were two robberies during the past week. On Monday, at 7:11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Subway Restaurant on Geneva Avenue on a report of a silent hold up alarm. Officer Farrar parked his patrol vehicle out of sight and approached the business on foot. He saw a clerk behind the counter and a male subject who seemed to be pacing back and forth. The clerk made eye contact with the officer and waved his arm in the air. There was no one in the restaurant, but the door was closed. The dispatcher tried to phone the restaurant, but the phone just kept ringing. Sergeant Brennan and Officer Farrar went inside the restaurant, and the clerk pointed to the subject and said he wanted him to leave. The clerk/victim told the officers that the subject asked for a glass of water but then later demanded money from him. The clerk then pressed the robbery button to summon police. The subject, a 46-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for attempted robbery and for outstanding warrants. On Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., a 49-year old Daly City resident was the victim of a road rage incident at Junipero Serra Boulevard and D Street, and the suspect, a 25-year old Burlingame resident, stole his cell phone from the console of his vehicle. The suspect was arrested. See notable reports for more information. Residential Burglaries There was one residential burglary during the past week.
3 On Sunday, at approximately 6:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 600 block of Alexis Circle on a report of an in-progress residential burglary. Officer Mahan and Officer Ciucci set up a perimeter around the house, and shortly after, the reporting parties arrived and gave the officers the code to the garage door. The victim advised the officers that he was at a restaurant having dinner when he received an alert on his phone from his security system that showed three people were in his bedroom looking through all of his drawers and under his mattress. The subjects left prior to the officers arrival. The suspects entered the residence by shattering the rear sliding glass door window by an unknown means. The suspects stole a semi-automatic handgun, a large sum of cash, and jewelry and left prior to the officers arrival. This investigation is continuing. Commercial Burglaries There were two commercial burglaries during the past week. On Monday, at approximately 8:40 a.m., an unknown suspect wearing a gray hooded Northface sweatshirt, black skinny jeans, red Vans shoes and a white bandana covering his face, entered the Subway Restaurant on Geneva Avenue by using a key and removed money from two cash registers. The owner is attempting to obtain video surveillance footage of the burglary, and this investigation is continuing. Between Monday, at 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m., an unknown suspect cut the pad lock from a storage locker at the public storage facility at1050 King Drive and stole two brown duffel bags from the locker.
