3 Officer of the month Josh mcfall Officer Josh McFall joined the SFPD in 2012 after serving with Pacifica PD for 6 years. Josh brought a wealth of information and experience with him, including spending time on the State High Tech Crimes Task Force. Josh is also a Drug Recognition Expert and has handled hundreds of DUI cases. Josh is currently assigned as the Richmond Station Night Watch Traffic Car and keeps our streets safe and drunk drivers off the road. Prior to working in law enforcement, Josh served in the U.S. Army for 8 years. He also is a volunteer Fire Fighter with San Mateo County. When not working, Josh enjoys BBQing and Gardening. 3

4 Citizens of the month Nisrin suleiman Nisrin is the owner of Café Coco, located 4201 Geary Blvd, and has been in business since Originally from the Middle East, Nisrin moved to the United States 16 years ago and settled her family in South San Francisco. She and her husband have two children. When she first moved to the US, Nisrin took English classes while raising her two small children. Nisrin had the opportunity to buy the café in 2012 and her husband did all of the construction on the interior of the store. Stop by Café Coco and say Hi to Nisrin and the other friendly staff. The most popular sandwich on the menu is the Balzac made with turkey and avocado. 4

8 DEFINITION OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that could indicate a crime-related incident has been committed, or about to be committed. Unusual items or situations: A vehicle is parked in an odd location, a package/luggage is left unattended, a window/ door is open that is usually closed, or other out-of-the-ordinary situations occur. Examples of Suspicious Activity: An individual peering into vehicles, to try and locate any valuables left unattended. An individual trying door handles to vehicles, and/or residences to gain access to the vehicle and/or residence. An individual checking front doors of residences to locate any unattended packages, or individuals following delivery trucks to see where the truck is dropping off packages. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING DEFINITIONS OF CRIME Robbery Robbery is the taking of property from another by using force or by using fear. Assault An assault is an unlawful attempt, coupled with the present ability, to commit a violent injury on another person. Battery- (Misdemeanor battery) is any willful and unlawful touching of another. (Felony battery) is the use of force or violence upon the person of another that causes serious bodily in jury. **Assault is when a person swings their arm and battery is when that arm makes contact with another person. ** Aggravated Assault Assault upon another person with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm or by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Burglary The intent upon entry into a property to commit grand theft, petty theft, or any felony. 8

10 INCIDENTS IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK Robbery 12/12/18 21: Block 32nd Ave SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT The Victim confronted the Suspect as he left the store without paying for several items. The Suspect balled his fists and took a fighting stance and ran toward the Victim. The Victim sprayed the Suspect with pepper spray, deterring further aggression from the Suspect,who then fled with the merchandise. Arriving Officers quickly detained the Suspect and recovered several stolen items. A records check revealed the Suspect had four outstanding warrants from four separate jurisdictions. The Suspect was arrested and booked at County Jail on the following charges: Robbery, Battery, and four Warrants Aggravated Assault 12/14/18 21: Block 6th Ave The Suspect confronted the Victim outside their residence regarding money. The Suspect then assaulted the Victim with a piece of wood with a large nail in it. Officers arrived and located the Suspect just outside the residence. The Suspect was detained and identified as the attacker. An arrest search of the Suspect located Marijuana, Methamphetamine, and Metal Knuckles. The Suspect admitted to drinking heavily that day and taking Methamphetamines. The Suspect was arrested and booked at County Jail on the following charges: Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon 10
