WHAT IS THE HOUR? Brethren: Don t forget to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Daylight Savings time allows for the clocks to revert back an hour every year.

So, when the clocks fall back one hour in October, all Amtrak trains in the U.S. that are running on time stop at 2:00 a.m. and wait one hour before resuming.

At the spring Daylight Saving Time change, trains instantaneously become an hour behind schedule at 2:00 a.m., but they just keep going and do their best to make up the time.

SNYDER SHRINERS 5K RUN The Snyder companies teamed up with Shriners Hospitals to bring you the Annual Snyder Shriners 5k run-walk!

Shriners Hospital for kids provides the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and special healthcare needs.

Thanks Chris, Tim & Alison for your help in raising money for the Shriners Hospital and those families in need.

Brother Chris Hathaway, Brother Tim Longfellow and his wife Alison Longfellow took to the course to help raise money for an awesome cause. Shriners Hospital for kids provides the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and special healthcare needs. They provide for the education of physicians, and conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and life for children and families across our nation. 6 MARSEILLES LODGE #417 VISIT The Valley of Bloomington Scottish Rite s Commander in Chief Larry Raglan, and his entourage of Normal Lodge members visited the Brethren from Marseilles Lodge #417 on Tuesday October 17 th for their stated meeting. The visit was enjoyed by all who attended. A hotdog, sauerkraut, green bean, and German Potato Salad was served for dinner. No one went away hungry that night. We encouraged members to join us next month at the Scottish Rite Reunion. Thanks again to all of our Brethren from Marseilles lodge for their wonderful hospitality and open arms. We found a Caboose to play on across the street from the lodge. SW Longfellow really enjoyed this.

Folks visiting the local IGA were able to stop by the table and buy pork shop sandwiches for $4.00 each.

Food baskets will once again be available for needy families later this month.

7 PORK CHOP SALES GOES HOG WILD Who says pigs don t fly? Normal Lodge s Annual Pork Chop sales were held on Saturday October 14ht, 2017 in El Paso, Illinois. Folks visiting the local IGA were able to stop by the table and buy pork shop sandwiches for $4.00 each. Sales started at 11am and run until the chops ran out. Profits for the days sales will go towards Normal Lodge s annual Food Baskets. Food baskets will once again be available for needy families later this month. Normal Lodge Treasurer Barry Carney said that this year s sales brought in approximately $ for this year s Food Baskets & the Lodge Relief fund in general. 8 Grand Lodge of Illinois th Annual Communication Brethren from around the state of Illinois gathered again for this year s annual Grand Lodge of Illinois s 178 th Communication Meetings. Normal Lodge was represented by Worshipful Master Al Abbott, Senior Warden Tim Longfellow, Jr. Warden Matt Knapp. If you would like to know what items came up for discussion this year come to the next stated meeting and ask the Worshipful Master or Secretary for more information.

This is an annual event for the Valley of Bloomington Scottish Rite and its members. Everyone enjoyed lunch before ordering their favorite piece of pie. 10 PARK YOUR CAPS PROGRAM Our friend and Worshipful Master from Marseilles Lodge Ron Swon, has a son who uses a motorized wheelchair to get around. While visiting the lodges summer picnic last month, I sat down and talked with him about the caps program he is running. Plastic caps that are collected, washed and sent to the factory are turned into new plastic handicap accessible park benches, picnic tables, recycle bins, and trash cans. Over the next few months, Brethren from Normal Lodge are asked to set aside the following plastic caps and containers. Bring those collected items with you to our stated meetings and Brother Mike Tutter will make sure they are sent to the collection agency in Marseilles. Can t make a stated meeting, but would like to collect tops for the cause? No problem, contact Brother Tutter ( mtutter@comcast.net ) and he will make sure they are picked up for the collection period. The following list of items are NOT ACCEPTABLE for this collection.
