I was very glad to have been able to make it to all of the brotherhood bashes this last October. I was also very impressed by the turn out that we had at this years Lodge Leadership Development, it was great to see so many people there and to spend some time coming up with some plans for the year to come. Keep in mind that the Winter Banquet is just around the corner, and from the sounds of things it is going to be an amazing banquet! If you need a ride or have any questions feel free to contact myself or your Chapter Chief, we would be more than happy to help in any way we can. This newsletter is available to all active Order of the Arrow members in the lodge and is distributed to all registered, due-paying brothers. All information about future lodge events and registration, including banquets, conclaves, fellowships, and yearly membership renewal, will be included in this newsletter as available, along with messages and letters from individual chapters as well as members of the Lodge Executive Committee. 3 From the LEC: LETTERS FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE LODGE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Bobby S. Vice Chief of Activities Even though the Spring Fellowship may seem really far off, I'm pleased to report that plans for the Spring Fellowship are well under way. My intention is to have a mix of popular activities as well as many new activities and training cells. Though it is still too early to get into details, I will say I am excited at what the Spring Fellowship, and the Fall Conclave, have in store. There will be many details in the Spring Flight. In the mean time I hope to see everybody at the Winter Banquet. Alex C. Vice Chief of Administration In November the Lodge hosted the annual Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) training day. It was held at the Rockford Career College November 10th. The Lodge also hosted a couple of wonderful guest speakers at the LLD, we had Dan D. one of our own to give a presentation about traditions along with Andrew J., Section C-7 secretary, who taught what it means to be an Arrowman. I encourage all Arrowman to go to next years LLD which will be held in October Also as Vice Chief of Administration I plan to host a training about what an Elangomat is and they do to help support the Lodge. Nick M. Secretary I want to thank all of the members of the LEC and the Chapters for a great start to the OA year. I want to personally thank Nathan S., the Publications Chair, for all of his help he has given me with this position so far. I also want to thank my advisor, Mrs. J. Cox, My advisor, for her patience and help with everything this position entails. To WWW, Kishwaukee, and Gokhos Chapters, thank you for your help with the paperwork for the Brotherhood Bashes, especially to Mark H., Josh R., and again to Nathan S. I look forward to the events to come, including the Winter Banquet and, even further ahead, the Spring Fellowship and the Fall Conclave. It will be another fun and exciting year for our lodge, and I hope that many of our Brothers in our Lodge who have not yet been active will take advantage of the great events we are having. Will C. Treasurer First of all, I want to thank Alex Crump for running such a good LLD. It was very informative. As I have said before, NOAC fundraiser patches and NOAC Frisbees are still for sale. However, now that football season is over I have more time to come up with items and their designs that would be good to have in the lodge trading post; such as patches, t-shirts, and other apparel. I think that with our ideas, our trading post can be a great place for us, specifically the adults, to empty our wallets at the Winter Banquet and other upcoming lodge events. 3

4 From the Chapters: LETTERS FROM THE CHAPTER CHEIFS Gokhos Andrew G. In the Gokhos Chapter things are going great. We have our Winter Banquet coming up on January 12th. We have finalized the menu and desserts, also along with the Winter Banquet there are Silent Auctions, where you can bring Gift Baskets or bid on some to help fund for NOAC. Also we have our Chapter Christmas Party which will be held December 5th at Plum Hallow in Dixon, IL. We will be doing Gift Exchanges, so feel free to bring one, and will be doing Quarter-Mania which consists of spending a quarter on Bowling and Mini- Golfing. Happy Holidays! Kishwaukee Sam P. Hello everyone I hope you ve had a great few months I know I have. Coming up for the chapter we have a few events coming up starting with the Winter Banquet on January 12 th at 5:00PM at the Sauk Valley Community Collage. Our first chapter meeting is going to be at the Belvedere YMCA on February 23 rd -25 th and is our lock-in with Mawat Chapter. The lock-in will be a great time with games, food, and swimming a price will be coming out soon. I m really looking forward to this next year I hope it will be another year of growth for our chapter and one of good-times for you and your families. Mawat Mark V. Hello everyone once again. The chapter is currently getting ready for elections. Also we are trying to come up with fun meeting places and outings. Another thing that is happening soon is a brotherhood bash for all ordeal members ready to be brotherhood. This bash is at the service center in Rockford at noon, December 8. That is all. 4

For those who are interested in attending, our chapter meetings always occur a week after the LEC on a Sunday. Mr. Connors and myself would love to see some new faces around. Another topic of interest is the possibility of a Lodge Native American dance team. This activity is one that requires help anywhere it can be received. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please contact the lodge on what you could help out on. The same thing goes if you are interested in being a dancer. Wulapeju has already been asked to perform at a pow wow in August, so the faster we get this thing going, the more prepared we will be. Ben R. Wetassa I hope to see you all at upcoming events, and at upcoming meetings. Our meetings are at the Trinity United Methodist church, 2600 West Pearl City road, Freeport, on the second Wednesday of every month. I would also like to ask every troop in the Wetassa district to have an OA troop representative, if you would like information on this attend one of our meetings. Order of the Arrow Philmont Trail Crew W h o M a y P a r t i c i p a t e? The Order of the Arrow is offering an opportunity for Arrowmen to join together in cheerful service and the formation of lasting brotherhood on the trails of Philmont Scout Ranch. Under the direction of the Philmont Conservation Department, experienced Philmont staff members with strong Order of the Arrow backgrounds will lead participants on the two-week trail crew and trek. The first week focuses on trail construction and maintenance under the guidance of Philmont trail crew members. The second week is a seven-day backpacking trek that participants design. The program is not simply building trails and hiking, though; the Order of the Arrow Trail Crew is ultimately a journey that challenges Scouts mentally, To be able to participate in the Order of the Arrow Trail Crew program, participants must meet the following requirements: Be a registered member of both the Boy Scouts of America and a local Order of the Arrow lodge. Be at least 16 years old the day the program begins and not yet 21 by the time it ends. Be physically fit, able to lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds (Philmont height and weight guidelines will be strictly enforced). For more information go to Philmont s website Via WWW.
