This list enables the City to send relatable, time-sensitive information to those in the community. Residents interested in being on this contact list can forward their address to City Hall at anchorage.nan@insightbb.com, or can call Only one address per household please. According to City ordinance, any resident s vehicle that is regularly parked within the City overnight is required to be registered with the Anchorage Police Department. Upon registration and a fee of $1.00, the City will issue a car sticker for the owner to display on the lower left hand corner of the rear window of the vehicle. The stickers can be purchased at City Hall Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. top 5:00 p.m., or 24/7 at the police station.

2 TRASH PICK-UP FOR ANCHORAGE RESIDENTS In January 2007 Industrial Disposal contracted with the City of Anchorage for trash service. Each residence in the City has weekly trash, recycling, and yard waste pick-up. With all these services offered our residents, it is important to know how homeowners can contribute to the best possible service. New homeowners need to contact Industrial Disposal at to begin service. Residents must have trash, recycling, and yard waste out by 6:45 a.m. the day of the service. The hauler will collect the trash from the back door of the home as long as it is no more than 20 feet from the end of the drive. Back door collection does not include entering a garage or home to collect waste. Residents may pull trash to the curb if they do not want the trucks on their drive. It will be necessary to take trash cans to the curb if there are low hanging wires across the drive or if the drive is blocked by other vehicles. Trash service is for normal household trash not construction materials. Each household may set out four 30-gallon cans or eight trash bags not to exceed 40 pounds per container or bag. Industrial Disposal cannot dispose of hazardous materials like oil-based paint. To dispose of hazardous materials, call a recycling center. However, the trash haulers can pick up latex or water-based paint containers that have been dried out or filled with kitty litter or sawdust to absorb the paint. Be sure to remove lids and enclose in a plastic bag for disposal. Recycling collection is city-wide on Wednesdays and is picked up curbside. When loading your recycling bin, put paper on the bottom, then plastics, and lastly glass to keep items from blowing away. Boxes should be broken down flat. ID has improved their recycling program to include all plastics with the numbers 1 through 7 on the bottom. This reduces the amount of material going to the landfill. Please rinse out plastic containers. The following items are not acceptable: plastic (grocery) bags, styrofoam of any kind, 5-gallon buckets, oil-based paint, motor oil, plastic cutlery, and the pump sprayers from plastic bottles. Recycling bins can be picked up at the Anchorage Public Works building behind the Fire Department. Call them at to have a bin set aside for your pick up. Yard waste collection is year-round on Thursdays and is picked up curbside. The pickup can include 7 bundles of three-foot length, 16 bags, or 8 level cans no heavier than 30 pounds. The haulers will not pick up dirt, stumps, mulch, trees, fencing, etc. Make sure bags are of sufficient strength to contain without breakage. For large items, contact Industrial Disposal at to schedule a special pickup. All refrigerators, freezers, AC units must have the Freon captured and the item tagged by a licensed HVAC tech before pick up. If your hauler fails to take items you have set out, the driver is instructed to tag those items he has left stating the reason so the homeowner can correct the problem.

LUKE S TO SPONSOR THE 179 th ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF KY For the first time in 42 years, St. Luke's Episcopal Church will play host to the 179th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. Lay deputies and clergy from all congregations in the Diocese will meet in Anchorage for two days. Friday, February 23 rd worship and business will begin at 5:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Church, 1206 Maple Lane. The banquet will follow at Owl Creek Country Club. On Saturday, the main worship service and the Bishop's address will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road. The last time the convention was held in Anchorage was May We welcome the Convention back to Anchorage and look forward to showing our fellow Episcopalians and Kentuckians our brand of hospitality. ANCHORAGE FORESTRY UPDATE As witnessed by many of our residents, the Anchorage Forestry advisor has recommended the removal of several hazardous trees in City right-of-ways and yards. For those of you who wish to replace those trees the Forestry Board encourages you to take advantage of the 2007 Spring Canopy Campaign (reference the insert in the January 2007 ANCHORAGE AGE). Not only will property owners save money but also have the comfort of knowing that the trees are planted by seasoned professionals at the proper time and location. Questions on the terms of the Canopy Campaign may be addressed to Hap Dunford at or Diane McAllister at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, located at 1206 Maple Lane in Anchorage, will hold an authentic St. Patrick's Day Dinner to raise money for Heifer International and Food for The Poor on Saturday, March 17, at 7 p.m. A traditional Irish dinner will be served, a Celtic band will perform, with concluding entertainment by the band, "Cabin Fever." Space is limited to 100 persons and reservations are required. Call the parish office at for reservations. Sewer Expansion Update Design of the sewer expansion is now essentially complete, and the project has been advertised. Construction bids are due from contractors in mid-march. After analysis of the bids and approval by the City Council, the contract will be awarded. Our hope is that work will begin sometime in April. One resident has suggested that neighbors collectively approach plumbers about installing the service lines to their individual homes. A coordinated approach could result in savings for homeowners.
