This means that we have a GREAT club! The year is passing so fast I can t believe it. Next month is Christmas. Hi to All: Thanks to all those who helped with the car show....the Christmas dinner is on the second Wednesday in December instead of the second Tuesday. I bet some of you have all your shopping done. I haven t even started. Please come to the November meeting so that you can approve next years slate of officers. The new officers will need you enthusiasm. Remember that the Christmas dinner is the second Wednesday in December instead of the second Tuesday. It s fun to look forward to seeing everyone. I hope those who went to the Planes of Fame museum enjoyed the trip. Les came home with good things to say about the trip. I had that flu that is going around, so I was unable to go with him. Thanks to Betty and Vince for taking Les. I am not sure where the November tour will be, so that s another reason to come to November s meeting The first snow came last night. 6 One More Porsche Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The next meeting of the Sedona Car Club will be on Tuesday, November 10th, at 7:00 PM, at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Rd. Sedona. Thanksgiving George Washington proclaimed a National Day of Thanksgiving in However, it was Sarah Josepha Hale, a magazine editor, whose efforts eventually led to what we recognize as Thanksgiving. Hale wrote many editorials championing her cause in her Boston Ladies' Magazine, and later, in Godey's Lady's Book. Finally, after a 40-year campaign of writing editorials and letters to governors and presidents, Hale's obsession became a reality when, in 1863, President Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a national day of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was proclaimed by every president after Lincoln. In 1941, Thanksgiving was finally sanctioned by Congress as a legal holiday, as the fourth Thursday in November.
