This publication can be viewed on line at Sheriff s Office Employee Awards Ceremony Edna Woody Woodberry was honored for her 24.5 years of service as she was promoted to sergeant and retires from the Sheriff s Office. We will miss you and your sense of humor, Woody. Employees of the Third Quarter: Victim Advocate Carol Albury-Johnson, Detention Sergeant Mark Lindback, Traffic Sergeant Kevin Mimosa, Reserve Deputy Dan Zeig and Explorer Thomas Mirabella. Sheriff s Medal for Lifesaving: on the left, Sgt. Ralph Williams nominated Deputies Patricia Garcia and Thomas Amador for performing CPR to revive a man who d stopped breathing. On the right, Deputy Dave Campbell received an award for saving a family from a fire. The Traffic Enforcement Unit and it s leader, Sgt. Kevin Mimosa were honored at the ceremony for receiving the state s top award for traffic enforcement.

2 Christmas Door Decorating Contest! Get into the Christmas spirit and decorate your office door for Christmas. This contest is for individuals and groups alike - anyone in the agency can take part. Just decorate your door sometime before December 16th and send a photo of your holiday efforts to Becky Herrin at beckyherrin@keysso.net or to Tamara Snider at tsnider@keysso.net. On the 16th, we will be be awarding a first, second and third prize to the winning doors! We look forward to seeing everyone s creative spirit shine! Clean Up Help! Sgt. Jason Madnick is looking for helpers on a project he and his squad have been working on in the Upper Keys. On November 21st at 9 a.m. they will be working on demolishing some structures in a wooded area off of Samson Road at the 101 mile marker of the highway. Anyone who can help, please let him know. Colleagues at the Roth Building held a baby shower for Deputy Caridad Bellon recently. Here she is with Peggy Bryan and Haydee Martinez. Members of the Sheriff s Office in the Upper Keys picked up a large amount of trash from an area behind the Civic Club in Key Largo, hauling away mattresses, chairs and other debris. They posted the area with No Trespassing signs and will be patrolling actively to keep the area from becoming an illegal encampment again in the future. Members of the Sheriff s Office in the Upper Keys cleaned up an area behind the Burger King in Key Largo, and posted the property with No Trespassing signs. A large amount of trash from an area used for illegal camping was hauled away and deputies will be doing regular patrols in the area to ensure the area stays clean and unoccupied. They were helped out in the effort by Christian Landscaping. Members of the Sheriff s Office and a group of trusty s cleaned up property at the Bethel AME Church in Key West. Deputy Linda Kohout organized a clean up of trash accumulated in a neighborhood on Little Torch Key. A house was vacated by tenants, who left behind a huge pile of trash. Waste Management and Monroe County Solid Waste helped pick everything up before the pile had time to get bigger. Airport Security Technician William Stabenow rescued this American Bittern at the Key West Airport. It appears the bird may have been blown by high winds into a building. He was turned over to the Key West Wildlife Center at Indigenous Park for care. Crime Scene Detective Barney Sadjak conducted training for cadets in the Upper Keys, teaching them about crime scene processing, fluorescent powder, magnetic powder and lighting techniques.
