2 Page 2 From Surfside Member Russ Lewis Here's a photo of a male Rufus hummingbird taken this morning- I took this picture in our courtyard and I think readers would enjoy a close-up of these hummingbirds that are now buzzing around in Surfside. They winter down south as far as Southern Mexico and migrate as far north as Southern Alaska. Just passing through. WATER HELPER NEEDED WATER FIELD TECHNICIAN I This position is entry level and requires supervision to perform technical functions related to the operations, installation and maintenance of Surfside s water system and other infrastructure and assets. Subject to 24 hour call back for emergency conditions and participation in the on-call duty rotation with other trained staff. 3 Page 3 Travis Says, SURFSIDE DEPUTY REPORT DEPUTY T. OSTGAARD MARCH 28 th APRIL 3 rd, 2019 On 03/28 I received a Crime Lab Report from a drug case I had in December. The lab results came back positive for Methamphetamine from a substance in a needle. I wrote Probable Cause for the arrest of the suspect, and the suspect was located and arrested within an hour. The suspect was transported and booked in to the jail for possession of Methamphetamine. On 03/31 I was dispatched to the block of K Pl. for a welfare check. I contacted the homeowner and she stated she was fine, and she would call the reporting party. On 04/03 there was a report from the Hospital of a domestic violence call from the block of N St. The reporting party was at the hospital being seen in the ER and reported that he had been hit by a car. The driver of the car called 911 soon after and stated that she had been threatened with a knife, and the person in the hospital had jumped on her hood as she was backing up, then fell off. After investigation, the male (at the hospital) was arrested for felony harassment. Traffic warning: 2 Citizen assist: 2 Welfare check: 1 Domestic violence: 1 SLOW DOWN!! 25 mph in all Surfside areas other than I Street North of the mini-mall! Emergency? CALL 911!!!! The office personnel are not dispatchers.

An Ad Hoc Committee is beginning the planning. The Ad Hoc Committee needs input from members especially those who have vehicles in the site. A series of Brainstorm/Member input sessions are planned. These meetings are as follows: May 11, 2019, 1PM at the Surfside Conference Room June 6, 2019, 6PM at the Surfside Conference Room July 13, 2019, 9AM and held in conjunction with the Surfside Annual Meeting. 8 Page 8 Architectural Committee Just a reminder if you are planning on installing a fence, a shed, a garage, a house or even doing a little remodeling ALL building plans must be submitted to the Architectural Committee prior to any construction. The committee usually meets weekly on Tuesdays at 9 a.m., dependent upon if there s anything on the agenda. All applicants are encouraged to attend the meeting (if possible) to answer any questions that may arise. The building packets are on our website at or you can pick one up from the business office. Two (2) sets of plans must be submitted to the committee. Once approved, you will get a copy of the plans that have been stamped so you can take them to the county for their approval. For more detailed information on the Architectural Committee duties and guidelines you can find them on our website or call the business office with any questions.

Food Bank volunteers monitor the barrel and insure that your donations get to the Food Bank.
