1 VOLUME 7, ISSUE 14 Titusville Marina now has more than 90 percent of its slips filled! For your information, there is a wonderful and informative article about Titusville s Marina and the public/private partnership between the City of Titusville and the Marina Management Company Seigel-Gallagher. To read the article in its entirety go to: de= &pagelabel=36&sgt=11&lang=enu Titusville Police Chief John Lau, Lieutenant Matt Demmon and Corporal Telly Joiner were honored to speak with young men from the Master of Achievement Leadership and Excellence (M.A.L.E.) program. 2 On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, Titusville Police Sergeant Tyler Wright held a situational awareness training event for Brevard County Realtors at the Titusville Elks Lodge. The training is a proactive crime prevention initiative focusing on eliminating the occupational safety risks for real estate professionals. Mayor Walt Johnson and Titusville Police Corporal Tim Werring enjoyed snow cones with kids that were attending The Fighting Edge Gym s Summer Fun event at Isaac Campbell Park. The Titusville Police Department were at the old Whispering Hills School parking lot on Saturday July 8 th from 11 am to 2 pm feeding kids hotdogs, chips and snow cones. The children were also provided a package meal of non perishable items to take home. Congratulations to Titusville Police Explorer Chief Celestial McBride for being elected as the Youth President and being named the 2017 Explorer of the Year for the Florida Association of Police Explorers. RUAG Space USA located at 7700 US1, Titusville celebrated the official opening of the Titusville Manufacturing site to produce structures for OneWeb s fleet of 900 satellites on Tuesday, July 11 th. Pictured below is McBride and her fellow explorers.
3 Titusville Community Service Award Recipient On June 14 th, Carole Shalala was named the 2017 Titusville Community Service Award recipient at a ceremony held in conjunction with the City s annual Flag Day Celebration. Ms. Shalala has been the coordinator at the Cor Jesus Food Pantry for over twenty-three years. She oversees student and adult volunteers. She also coordinates with other area food banks to serve as many people as possible. Carole organizes many projects that benefit the clients. Working with the students of St. Teresa School, the students collect toys for Christmas, various kinds of candies for Easter baskets, and canned foods for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. She leads by example showing the students valuable lessons of giving. Carole puts her heart and soul into the Cor Jesus Food Pantry, proving leadership to help meet the needs of the residents of North Brevard County. The Community Service Award was established in memory of Reverend Harry R. Lee who served the City and community in many different capacities. Through his words & actions, he set an example for encouraging service and unity. Annually, nominations for the award are solicited from area schools, churches, and civic organizations as well as from the community at large. Those nominated are recognized at the award ceremony and each receive a framed certificate. This year's nominees for exceptional service to the community in addition to Carole Shalala were Bill Baldwin, Denise Farias, Reverend Ray Johnson, Carlee Partain, and Snowflake Stubli. Titusville Fire & Emergency Services Life Safety Specialist Kerri Lubeski attended the July 4 th Red, White and Boom at Sand Point Park. The public education tent had interactive stations where children could draw a picture, paint a rock, get a temporary tattoo and receive information on fire safety prevention and firework safety. On Thursday, July 6, The Kid s Place Christian Learning Center toddlers welcomed a visit from Ladder Truck 13. Lieutenant Brian Strong, Acting Driver/Operator Oliver Harper and Firefighter Kevin Karpiak explained the different parts of the truck, with the 75ft ladder extended into the air, invited the children to sit in the driver s seat and answer their questions. Life Safety Specialist Kerri Lubeski read the National Fire Protection Association Sparky the Fire Dog storybook. At the end of the story, a discussion took place about fire safety and each child got a chance to hug Sparky the hand puppet.
