3 The Property The Lodge is a traditional Scandinavian timber framed building, designed by Anglo/Swedish architects and built in 1998 mainly from materials imported from Sweden, with the house having a brick clad exterior under a tiled roof. There are well maintained conifer and broadleaf stands, areas with strong conservation interests, carpets of bluebells and garlic in the spring, and a large variety of other wildflowers. Sika and roe deer are frequently seen, as well as foxes, badgers, and most of the UK s smaller mammals. The bird life is particularly rich, with all the common Dorset woodland birds, and some unusual ones such as goshawks, red kites and nightingales. The property is approached from the lane over a long woodland track leading to the turning circle with double garage and plenty of parking space. A large part of The Lodge grounds are clearings taking the form of wildflower meadows within the woodland, much of which is classified as Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland. Directions (DT11 0HQ) From Blandford Forum, take the A354 towards Dorchester and, after about 6 miles, take the second turning right at Winterborne Whitechurch towards Milton Abbas. Continue to the village but, do not turn down the hill into the village, carry on and, after approximately one mile, turn left signed Bulbarrow 3 miles. Continue along this lane for approximately 2½ miles and, on reaching a padlocked iron gate on the left, wait for a member of Jackson-Stops and Staff who will escort you to the property.
