2 INTRODUCTION Aurangabad district was the part f Magadh divisin It acquired the status f an independent district in the year The administrative head quarter f the district is lcated at Aurangabad which is the main twn f the district. The district is bunded n the Nrth by Arwal district n the Suth by Palamau district f Jharkhand n the East by Gaya district and n the West by Sne river. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Aurangabad named After Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb came t this place in the mid-16th century. This district is n the extreme mid-west part f ancient Magadh. All the literature available regarding Treta Yug and Dwapar Yug relate t Lrd Sri Ram and Lrd Sri Krishna respectively. Frming part f the first vast territrial empire f Magadh, perhaps the distinctin f being ruled by Bimbisara and Ajatsatru and later n by Chandragupta Maurya and Ashka. After the dwnfall f the Mauryas, this area remained under svereignty f Sungas and Kushans. Harshavardhan als ruled ver this land. Befre this regin came under the cntrl f Mghul Sultanate, it remained under the cntrl f Sen Dynasty and Garhwal (Suryavanshi) rajputs.
