There are many traffic lights, fast fd places, and gas statins. This business-district rute is a slw trip. An alternate rute (15.3 miles) wuld be t take scenic Gerge Washingtn/Mt. Vernn Parkway (named Washingtn Street in twn) suth thrugh Old Twn Alexandria. Frm the airprt's main terminal, fllw the green highway signs tward Alexandria. Prceed alng the Ptmac River past Mt. Vernn, histric hme f Gerge Washingtn, until yu get t the Rute 1 intersectin; turn left (suth) n Rute 1. G up the hill 0.7 f a mile; turn left and g thrugh the Main (Pence) Gate. If yu dn t have a current DD vehicle sticker cntinue past the Main Gate and turn left at the next entrance (Tully Gate). Allw at least 30 minutes t get a base pass. Take Metrrail t the Pentagn and transfer t bus 9A; be sure yu have exact change fr the bus. When yu arrive at Frt Belvir, exit at the intersectins f either 18th Street and Gunstn r 18th and Belvir Rad. (Fr mre infrmatin, call the Metrrail at ) Frm the Maryland Side f the Beltway (Prince Gerge's Cunty) Take the Beltway (I-495) acrss the Ptmac River via the Wdrw Wilsn Bridge and cntinue n I- 495 t the exit fr I-95.
