6 Underground Excursions Electric Mountain Set against a magnificent backdrop of the Snowdonia mountains, Electric Mountain is an amazing feat of engineering. Take an underground tour of this awesome space, it s like a film-set for a James Bond movie, vast chambers and tunnels so big you can drive a bus through them - which is good, since you ll be on it. 9 Museums & Galleries National Slate Museum Situated under towering slate mountains in the Victorian engineering workshops of Dinorwig Slate Quarry, this living, working museum tells the story of the slate industry in north Wales. Enjoy a stunning introductory film show, daily slate-splitting demonstrations, furnished quarrymen s houses, giant waterwheel - the largest in mainland Britain, exhibitions and events. The Ffestiniog runs from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog whilst the Welsh Highland runs from Caernarfon to Porthmadog where the two railways link together covering 40 miles of track. Take a self-guided tour which includes a film, MP3 audio commentary and exhibitions on geology, history, calligraphy and letter cutting. Have a go at calligraphy and try engraving on a piece of slate that you get to keep as a souvenir. There is a children s quiz with a slate prize.
