2 Ben Harrison, Airfield Duty Manager, London City Airport The Problem The Auditing Process Ben Harrison is the Airfield Duty Manager at London City Airport and is tasked, along with his team of about 25 employees, to perform multiple inspections daily. The operations officers will go out, they d be looking at the concrete, looking for any defects, for any debris, they ll also be looking for compliance with people operating around aircraft, Ben said. We also conduct third party auditing, so when a third party is operating at the airport, they will be subject to an audit from our safety officers. Their auditing process used to be long-winded and consumed a lot of environmental resources. Stuck in the Dinosaur Age We were using standard paper checklists, we were to go out with a clipboard and pieces of paper, we would do this twice a day, and on average it was about 5000 pieces of paper a year we d use for audits, Ben said.
