8 WEDNESDAY 21 MARCH 2018 WELCOME AND KEYNOTE SPEECHES 14:00-14:10 Matthew Baldwin, Deputy Director-General for Mobility and Transport, European Matthew Baldwin is Deputy Director-General of DG MOVE at the European Commission, with responsibility for the land transport (road and rail), waterborne transport (including ports policy) and aviation in addition to multimodality. He has held this post since July He is an avid - though increasingly slow - cyclist and runner. 14:10-14:55 Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary General of the International Association of Public Transport Mohamed Mezghani has been working for more than 25 years in public transport and urban mobility related fields. He is an expert in urban mobility policies, travel demand management, trends and innovation in urban transport. UITP firmly believes that multimodality is key in making our cities more accessible for all, from the first mile to the last. Andrea Carobene, Assistant to Deputy Mayor for Mobility, City of The City of Milan has just adopted its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan with a focus on shared mobility. It aims at the reduction of the private car use and a more liveable, enjoyable and attractive city. 3,394 shared cars, 16,650 shared bikes and 100 shared e-scooters are now available in Milan. Mobility data will soon flow into a digital platform where every mode of transport are integrated and available in only one single app. Connie Mark Skøvbjerg, Coordinator of rural development, Sønderborg Connie s focus is to introduce local mobility plans to achieve a carbon-free Sønderborg before 2029 and improve the quality of life of its residents. One specific project called Sustainable collective transport concepts in rural areas aims to reduce the number of individual journeys and to create a powerful alternative to private car use. The concept of sharing local buses is a co-creation between the communities of Kværs-Tørsbøl-Snurom, Lysabild and Dynt-Skelde-Gammelgab, institutions and politicians.
9 PARALLEL SESSIONS PLANNING FOR MULTIMODALITY 15:00-15:45 and 16:15-17:00 Clémence Cavoli, CREATE (Congestion Reduction in Europe Advancing Transport Efficiency) has been working over the past three years with a partnership of ten cities from across the EU and beyond. During this time, a great deal has been learnt about how certain partner cities have revolutionised their transport over time. This has proved an inspiration to other partner cities that currently have a more car-centred set of transport policies. In this interactive session, delegates will hear some of the principal findings from CREATE and be invited to explore how these might apply in their own towns and cities. MULTIMODAL HUBS 15:00-15:45 and 16:15-17:00 Room 1 László Kerényi, Head of Mobility Strategy, BKK BKK Centre for Budapest Transport, as the mobility manager of the Hungarian Capital, is responsible for all travelers regardless of their purpose, aim, or mode of transport. The SUMP of the city sets no absolute priority among transport modes, but addresses strategic objectives (livable environment, safe transport and regional connections) in four intervention areas: more connections, attractive vehicles, better services, and efficient governance. BKK aims to make passengers their partners. MOBILITY AS A SERVICE 15:00-15:45 and 16:15-17:00 Room 2 Stijn Vernaillen, City of Antwerp/Smart Ways to Koen Van De Putte, Olympus Mobility-as-a-Service is the future of mobility. Making it easy for users to combine various modes of transportation makes it more attractive to leave the car behind and travel in more sustainable ways. But this also poses big challenges for cities and transport providers: what is the role of the city in this context, how do you keep the system open for various players without diluting the market, and what about all the necessary/available data? The city of Antwerp and Olympus Mobility are sharing their experiences from a city and a provider perspective. WEDNESDAY 21 MARCH
