4 REGIONAL PARTNERSHIP WORKING Dorset LEP works actively with partners across the south west and south east to promote both county and regional strengths and enhance productivity. Association of (Local Authority) Directors of Environment Economy, Planning and Transport Dorset LEP attends quarterly south west subnational Board meetings along with local authority leads to coordinate cross-boundary infrastructure development and identify regional transport investment priorities. is the coming together of a wide range of organisations across the south west. Dorset LEP is working together with south west local authorities, LEPs, business and education under a common banner to enable a common strategy for increased productivity and prosperity for all. The campaign was endorsed by over 300 delegates from across the region at the 2017 South West Growth Summit which was organised by the group. is a powerhouse of world class strengths in digital technologies that can transform the world and the way we live for the better: Better transport; better health; and ever more creative ways to relax and be entertained. A new government sponsored Science and Innovation Audit (SIA) revealed that the South of England is the backbone of UK s digital economy. Stretching from Dorset to Kent and from Berkshire to the Isle of Wight, Innovation South covers eight counties across southern England, with a total economic output of billion, accounting for 13.7% of UK s economic output. Dorset, Cornwall & Isles of Scilly and the Heart of the South West LEPs were awarded funding from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to support the development of an energy strategy across the region covered by the three LEPs. The Carbon Trust has been commissioned by the LEPs to produce the strategy and delivery plan. A series of stakeholder workshops have been conducted to help identify and prioritise projects where intervention can make a difference. Centre of Excellence Dorset is part of the cluster of the UK, the largest in Europe. All LEPs in the south west of England have engaged in promoting aerospace as the leading cluster in Europe. South west agri-tech small to medium sized companies generate over 371 million turnover. Dorset LEP is working together with five other south west LEPs to promote the strength of the agri-tech sector within the region to attract further inward investment and to focus attention on the centres of excellence. M5 is the nuclear cluster for the south west of England. The south west is set to become a nuclear hub in the next two decades, with 15 projects worth 50 billion to our economy. Productivity Commission Dorset LEP is part of the. Together we are exploring opportunities around rural productivity and growth. The Commission recently published evidence of an independent enquiry to identify opportunities to stimulate rural productivity and growth, showing examples of tangible projects that will deliver benefits throughout the community. BRISTOL The South Coast Marine Cluster (SCMC) is a partnership between public authorities, LEPs, and institutions of higher education and research that exists to promote the world leading excellence of the marine and maritime related activities that take place in the south and south west of the UK Wessex Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) Covering Dorset, Hampshire, South Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight, Wessex AHSN brings together health services, academia and industry to promote and support innovation to improve patient outcomes and generate economic benefits. Innovation Aerospace (iaero) is a collaborative partnership of aerospace stakeholders in the south west of England, supported by leading companies including Airbus, GE Aviation, GKN Aerospace Leonardo Helicopters, Rolls Royce, as well as the public sector, universities and the regional trade association, WEAF.
