1 Mission Statement: The Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce works to represent and advance the Oak Lawn business community, striving with constant integrity, fairness and cooperation to promote and improve the economic atmosphere, business climate and image of Oak Lawn. Shop Oak Lawn ~ November 25th 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Promote your business and shopping local at the same time, for free! Small Business Saturday is Nov. 25th - the same day the Chamber will hold its Shop Oak Lawn event in conjunction with the Village s Santa on the Green. On Nov.25th (as well as every day) we re encouraging all Oak Lawn residents to shop small for all. The money spent in the community can stay in the community. Join the Chamber s campaign to shop local by spreading awareness of your business at the Vendor Fair to be held at the Oak Lawn Public Library. Chamber businesses are constantly giving back to the community, so there is no charge to be a vendor at this event. It s a cost-free opportunity to showcase and sell your products and/or services to local residents! All vendors are encouraged to provide a children s activity or giveaway at their table since this is a family event. Plus, you ll also increase foot traffic near your table with a kid-friendly activity. Vendor registration are due by Wednesday, November 8th (first come, first serve). You may also get into the Shopping Guide which is passed out to attendees that day. Contact the Chamber office for more SHOP LOCAL, support Oak Lawn businesses and make a difference. 2 President s Message I want to send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made phone calls to the Cook County Commissioners. Our voices were heard and the soda tax that originally passed 9-8, was repealed with a 15-2 vote. There were many voices being heard and your voice, and our collective voice, was one of many. Our Chamber of Commerce is 350+ members strong and that collective voice has influence. I m proud that our chamber board has taken up the mantle of legislative positions this year to represent our members. Our legislative committee is active and if you would like to be on it, call Julie at the office and we ll get you added. As we move towards the fall, we welcomed Don Murphy of American Family Insurance as our 2nd Vice President, filling a vacancy. Dr. Narbone and Erin Foley are working hard with their Shop Small Saturday committee to put on an amazing event in conjunction with Santa on the Green the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. 10 Shop Oak Lawn There are many ways to participate: Vendor at the Shops of Oak Lawn: This is a great, cost-free opportunity to showcase and sell your products and services to local residents. The event is held in conjunction with the Village of Oak Lawn s Santa on the Green. Shopping Guide: As a Chamber member, you can be listed in the 2017 Shop Oak Lawn Shopping Guide. List something unique about your business or include a coupon. For ad space, donate socks to benefit the homeless shelters or pay $25. Flyers: 200 flyers to be put in bag for attendees. Have the flyers to the Chamber office not later than Thursday, November 16th, Noon. 10

11 COMMUNITY EVENTS Saturday, November 11th Craft Fair - Trinity Lutheran Church 97th & Brandt Ave, 9:00 AM - 2:00PM Friday, November 10th & 17th - 7:30 PM Saturday, November 11th &18th - 7:30 PM Sunday, November 12th & 19th - 3:00 PM Oak Lawn Park District Community Theatre Production of A Christmas Carol-The Musical Tickets are available for the Oak Lawn Park District Community Theatre Production of A Christmas Carol-The Musical. The production will run at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St., Tickets are $23 for adults and $22 for seniors (60 and older) and children (12 and under). Tickets are available at the Oak View Center, by phone at , or online at more information please call Sunday, November 23rd, The Oak Lawn Park District will host its 23 nd Annual Turkey Shoot on Sunday, November 12th, at the Community Pavilion located at 9401 S. Oak Park Ave. This family-friendly event will take place from 11:00am-12:00pm. Each participating team will receive 10 free throws for a chance to win a turkey to gobble up for Thanksgiving dinner. Teams will consist of one parent and child, ages 4 and up, and be divided into appropriate age groups. The team who makes the most shots in each division will win. Mini-basketballs and nets will be available for younger children. There will be raffle prizes for all children. Parents may compete with more than one child. This event is free for residents. The fee for non-residents is $6.
