General info facts about EStonia Geographically, Estonia is on the north-eastern edge of the European Union, bordering Russia and Latvia. ++ Finland is a short hop across the sea - just 80 km away. ++ There are ferries to Tallinn from Helsinki (Finland) or Stockholm (Sweden). ++ Estonia is in the Schengen Area so we have open borders with the rest of Europe. ++ Brits, Americans, Canadians and Australians can also enter Estonia visa-free. ++ Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport, named after our late President, has direct flights all over Europe. ++ Estonia has a population of just 1.3 million but is larger than Denmark or Holland. ++ Everyone in tourism speaks good English and often German, Finnish, Russian and Swedish too! ++ Roads are traffic jam free. ++ Estonia is almost 50% forest. Põlva County (Põlvamaa) provides a Green Experience that combines distinctive natural beauty with the green lifestyle of the local people. The county offers a good mixture of relaxing or active holiday options and a rich cultural heritage. Põlva County lies in the southeastern part of Estonia which is both the highest and most topographically varied region in Estonia. Põlva County provides some of the most beautiful forests, mysterious rapid rivers along with the peaceful lifestyle of local country people. Värska municipality is situating on eastern border of EU and there is possibility to visit Russia. Värska is a small area, around 700 inhabitants in the village and 1500 inhabitants in the parish, situated in the south-east of Põlvamaa. Several regional and some national sports events take place in Värska annually. Water park in Värska Spa and Pihkva lake offer good relaxing possibilities for participants and spectators. Räpina has long been renowned for its beautiful parks and gardens. The tradition of gardening excellence was established by the Sillapää manor, in the centre of Räpina. A gardening school opened its doors here in the early part of the 20th century. Värska-Räpina area has good conditions for outdoor sports. Here are beautiful landscapes with forests and lakes and well prepared sports facilities. Classes and participation restrictions In World Cup There is one class for women and one for men. There are no age restrictions. Individual The maximum entry per member federation per event is 6 competitors for all the events. Relay The maximum of 4 teams of 3 riders per member federation. Each team must include at least one woman. In national competitions for public The classes are: M16, W16, M18, W18, M20, W20, M21, W21, M40, W40, M50, W50, M60, W60 7.
