IOF World Cup Event 3 (13 January) Format: Middle distance prologue plus chasing start. Map: The Slump, 1:10000, 5m contour Terrain: Principally open gully spur with areas of complex topography. 6. Embargoed Areas The following areas are embargoed for all orienteering activity except for official events organized by member clubs of the New Zealand Orienteering Federation. Higher resolution copies of maps are available on the event website. IOF World Cup Event 1 The coastal strip between Otaki and Levin, bounded on the east side by State Highway 1. Also the northern part of Waitarere Forest between forest road 24and the Manawatu River. Final Qualification Reserve area IOF World Cup Event 3 The area enclosed by: the Tutaekuri River north to Puketitiri Rd, Apley Road west to Waihau Road. World Cup Event 1: Harakeke, 1:10000, 2.5m contour interval, approx. 50 km from Palmerston North. Kaikokopu-Pukepuke, 1:10000, 2.5m contour interval, approx. 35 km from Palmerston North. World Cup Event 2: Massey University, 1:5000, 5m contour interval, Palmerston North. Training maps for World Cup Event 3 will be available in the Napier/Hastings area from 10 January Maps will be available at the s for all registered runners and officials. World Cup competitors are also able to enter Oceania Carnival Events 1,2, 5 and 6. Events 1 and 2 will both be held on sand dune terrain. The Auckland Orienteering Association is organizing a programme of 5 low-key events in the Auckland area from December These will include both sprint events and events on sand dune terrain. Further information on these events will be available through a link on the website 8. Competition Rules The Competition Rules for IOF Foot Orienteering apply. All competitors must represent a Federation. The number of competitors per Federation is limited. Participation restrictions, classes and qualification mode are according to the Special Rules for the 2013 World Cup in Orienteering. 9. Punching System SPORTident punching system will be used for all events. Athletes may use their own SI-Cards. SI- Cards will also be available for hire if necessary. 10. Entry Initial entry date: The following information shall be sent to the organiser by 30 September 2012: - Number of competitors (men and women) - Number of team officials (men and women) - Team manager: Name, address, phone, fax, Please use the Initial Entry Form available on the event website Nominal entry date: The nominal entry must be sent to the organiser no later than 31 October 2012 including the following information: - All competitors and team officials: family name, first name, nation, sex, year of birth, IOF ranking ID, SI-Card no. - IOF officials: family name, first name, address, IOF function. Note, that nominal entries can only be accepted if an initial entry has previously been submitted. Please use the Nominal Entry Form available on the event website. Entry fees Competitors: NZ$335 (NZ$70 per event + NZ$125 Accreditation) Team officials: NZ$125 (Accreditation) This includes - Training maps, model events, new competition maps - For competitors: Participation in IOF World Cup Events 1-3 Payment Entry fees and banquet tickets have to be paid before 31 October Please note that it is the entrants responsibility to add possible bank charges to the payments. Payment should be made to: ANZ Bank, Lambton Quay, Wellington, New Zealand Account Name: Oceania World Cup Orienteering Account # SWIFT Code: ANZBNZ22 Oceania Events Competitors who also wish to enter one or more Oceania Carnival Events should do so separately.

5 11. Travel The main entry point to New Zealand for international travellers is Auckland International Airport. Internal flights with Air New Zealand connect Auckland to Palmerston North, Wellington and Napier. Travel by road from Auckland is approx. 6-7 hours to either Palmerston North or Napier/Hastings, and 8-9 hours to Wellington. There are no suitable rail services. Visitors from some countries require visas to enter New Zealand. Please check with your travel agent. A list of countries to which the visa-waiver programme applies for short visits can be found at ies.htm 12. Accommodation There is no official accommodation and teams will need to make their own arrangements. Note that January is peak holiday time in New Zealand and it is strongly advised that accommodation bookings are made as early as possible. This is particularly true for accommodation in Hawkes Bay (World Cup Event 3) which is likely to be very heavily booked. Event Transport Teams are responsible for their own transport to and from events. All major vehicle rental firms (e.g. Avis, Hertz, Budget) operate in New Zealand as well as many local firms. Early booking of vehicles is advised. If anyone is unable to arrange transport they should contact the organisers for support. 14. Clothing Restrictions There are no formal clothing restrictions but full body cover is recommended for World Cup Events 1 and Weather & Climate Although January is summer in New Zealand weather can be very variable, particularly in Wellington. Mean monthly maximum and minimum temperatures (in o C) and rainfall (in mm) for January are: Palmerston North 22.4/13.4/65; Wellington 20.3/13.4/72; Napier 24.4/14.6/ Insurance Competitors participate in IOF World Cup Events and Oceania Carnival 2013 at their own risk. Individuals are responsible for their own insurance cover for illness/accident. 17. Media We welcome all media representatives to the IOF World Cup and Oceania Carnival.
