City profile : Cusco is the closest major city to one of the country s main tourist attractions (and most beautiful places in the world): Manchu Picchu. Peak tourist season is June September, meaning the city will be full of people from all over the world preparing to hike for several days. The city itself is smaller than other major cities in Peru and it s likely to hear English spoken frequently. Many locals are used to tourists and foreigners, making it less likely to stick out as Americans. Although this often means the prices are higher, this can work to our advantage as well, especially during outreach opportunities. Over a million people live in the areas outside of Cusco, most of which speak Spanish or Quechuan, a native tribal language with roots in Incan culture. The religion in this area is a strange mixture of Catholicism and tribal worship, resulting in a very religious and conservative culture. Several people groups in this area have been unconsidered unreached and we are excited to be partnering with three organizations that are working to share the gospel broadly in this region. Because of this, our team will strive to remain conservative and respective. The landscape surrounding Cusco is absolutely beautiful, boasting stunning views of the Andes Mountains. The altitude is high, which oftentimes takes a few days to get accustomed to. Most locals suggest taking it much easier than normal, in terms of physical activity and pace. But give it a few days, and we ll be well adjusted, doing life with the locals! Altitude : 11,000 + ft

2 Language : Spanish + Quechuan (in villages) Weather : s during the day and as low as s during the night ATEK Local Partners and Projects: This organization serves Cusco s surrounding villages and exists primarily to share the gospel, train believers and equip them to reach their spheres of influence. The ministry is performed primarily in Quechuan, the local language. Lead Pastor Fredi facilitates Biblical training, counseling, small groups, and regularly seeks to meet practical needs through his ministry as well. ATEK s headquarters are located 15 minutes from city center and include housing for up to 70 people our STT s will likely stay here during a portion of their stay in Cusco. Our team will help facilitate workshops, host youth camps, perform drama sets, sow broadly, disciple young believers, play sports, and potentially even help distribute medical supplies. CASA DEL AGUILA Casa Del Aguila is located in Limotambo, which is approximately two hours from the center of Cusco halfway between Cusco and Manchu Picchu. This organization runs an orphanage for abandoned children, many of which are products of sexual abuse and prostitution. Local leaders take care of the children, provide for their basic needs, and eventually train and disciple them. The orphanage is close by to a sustainable farming operation, which is used to feed many people in the area. Our team will work alongside Casa Del Aguila to provide care for orphans, facilitate activities, raise awareness for sexual abuse, prostitution and trafficking, and work the land. EVANGELICAL CHURCH OF PERU The largest church in Cusco, the Evangelical Church, is home to only 300 local believers; however they are focused on reaching students in the city. There are three major universities in Cusco as well as many high schools. The church has approved access in these schools and has offered to let us come alongside them in working with students. Our team will work to form relationships, start small groups, facilitate cultural exchange events and meals, and consistently perform outreaches on college campuses. Fill out application Next Steps:
