1 LIFE TEEN CAMP (HIGHH SCHOOL) Important, Pertinent, Valuable and Time Sensitive Information Trip Itinerary: To Tepeyac: Saturday, July 14th, 8:20pm bags and luggage to Holy Family. Load Bus. We will be blessed as a group Arrive at HF, Bus departs at 8:45pm!!!! o Bring sleeping for safety and spiritual growth. Saturday, 12AM o Stop in Bakersfield, CA and pick up another group buspooling with us. Sunday, 11am 12NOON o Arrive in Prescott, AZ o Camp starts at 2pm! for Summer Camp! Stop for Breakfast/lunch in Prescott. From Tepeyac: Friday, July 20th, 2pm o Depart from Camp Tepeyac Friday, July 20th, 11pm o Drop off teens in Bakersfield, CA Saturday, July 21st, 3 4am o Arrive back to Holy Family Parking Lot DRIVING DIRECTIONS THAT WE LL BE USING:
2 What bus company will be driving? Peninsula Tours, Inc. check them out: This is the same company that the Diocese of San Jose has used for the last four years for their Annual Trip to Lake Tahoe 5 buses!!! The bus is a 57 passenger bus. Who will be driving? We will have two bus drivers on this trip in order to ensure all off our safety. They will drop us off and then drive back and then come back to pick us up a week later. How can one check the status of teen s locations/u updates? Introducing, Twitter! Visit this website: and you ll see this and more updates about our Status all week long. Also, my Twitter Status will be located on the Holy Family Website at
3 What will the drive be like for the teens? The bus will have a DVD player that will play no movies rated more than PG. The bus will have one ipod that will play music for teens to enjoy together. Teens will sleep, talk, bond, and grow in community. WE DISCOURAGE INDIVIDUAL MUSIC PLAYERS, CELL PHONES, AND DVD PLAYERS WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED. Do you have a DVD that would work well? Suggest to Andrew at this time.... Will there be stops for food, bathroom, stretches, etc? Bathroom: Yes, but as minimal as possible. Often times road trips feel even longer because of the frequent stops. We will be stopping for two 30 minute breaks for food. All other stops conducted along the way will be food/rotate driver stops. We are on a time limit and want to be at camp in time. The bus has a small bathroom that can be used for emergencies... Food: Teens are encouraged to bring cash for the trip, not only for food along the way/returning but also because there is a General Store at Camp. If parents would like teens to spend more money at the Life Teen General Store, we ENOCURAGE PRE PACKED SNACKS, LUNCHES, BREAKFASTS, ETC. Only water & fruit with snacks will be provided for on the Trip. Monies to be brought: o Cash $15 $25 for road, another $15 $35 for Store. o OR o Parent s blank check for the Life Teen Store. Can my child have their cell phone? No. o If you need to get a hold of your teen for any EMERGENCY, you may call These Youth Ministers: Eileen Burrell (831) Chris Mardesich.(408) Alley White..(408) *** Please be aware that they might not answer their phones immediately. There will be outdoor excursions, moments of silent prayer, and other times where it might not be feasible to answer the call. They will return it as soon as possible. If you need to get a hold of a Camp Tepeyac Staff, please call or
4 What is the Camp Address? Mailing: Life Teen Tepeyac PO Box 3296 Prescott, AZ website: What happens at Camp? The Life Teen International staff plans, prepares, and executes the programming so the hard work is already done. Your duty as a youth minister is to arrive at camp, and play and pray with new friends from every corner of the world. Each week long camp includes the perfect balance of time to encounter Christ and time to play. Every week, a line up of dynamic presenters, talented musicians, and dedicated priests serve along with camp staff to encourage a deeper relationship with Christ for each camper. PACKING LIST: Please bring in a duffle bag, and not a suitcase! Trust me, it will help make things pack easier in the truck/van, and you can carry it easier at Tepeyac. Sunscreen Towels Sunglasses or hat Linens or sleeping bag/ pillow Bible, journal, rosary Shoes Water Bottle (NON DISPOSABLE) One pair that is closed toe tennis shoes Clothes to get dirty and throw away Water shoes that can be secured to feet (not Comfortable, modest, & appropriate for flip flops) climbing and outdoor games and activities Money for snacks and t shirts at the store Sweatshirt or jacket for evening Bug repellant Bathing suit Flashlight Toiletries DO NOT BRING: Cell phones CD player ipods Satellite radios Tobacco products Drugs Alcohol Weapons Lighters Magazines Computers Portable gaming devices Anything that may distract you or others from the camp experience OTHER THINGS TO BE AWARE OF: At Life Teen summer camp we encourage all campers to respect others as well as their own bodies. If the following guidelines are not respected, we may have to ask the camper/chaperone to change their clothing before returning to the daily activity. We recommend all campers and adults to adhere to our modesty guidelines.
5 No solid white t shirts Many of our activities will involve mud, mess or water. Chances are good that white t shirts will be ruined and/or see through. Please bring old clothes that you won t mind leaving behind or throwing away. No strappy tanks tops or short shorts Please be respectful of your body and of others by dressing modestly. Wear shirts that cover your shoulders and chest, and shorts that cover your thighs. A majority of activities during the day will be outside where the weather is hot and the sun shines brightly. By covering these areas, you will avoid getting sunburned. No flip flops! We are constantly moving around the camp on loose gravel and rocky ground. Sturdy shoes are necessary for avoiding sprained ankles and unwanted scrapes and bruises. No low riding shorts or pants. Many activities involve bending, sitting, and moving around. Please make sure that your shirt covers all of your stomach and back when you sit down or raise your arms above your head. My child takes medication, what should I do? Place the medication in a plastic, see through zip lock baggie and write the medication instructions, times, amount, etc on a piece of paper and place that in the plastic zip lock baggie. Medicine will be given to the Cabin Adult Leader and they will be responsible for distributing medicine. My child is very sensitive to certain foods/vegan/vegetarian, what should I do? Any specific instructions about the teens food needs were recorded on the registration sheet and submitted to the Camp cook. If a child decides to become a vegetarian that week at Camp, they will not make immediate changes.
