4 Hola! Children swing in Puerto Natales 4 Hola! Hello! Welcome to Chile! You might hear this greeting if you visit Chile. The word Chile means land s end. Chile is in South America. It is the longest country in the world. Chile is more than 2,650 miles (4,264 kilometers) long.
5 Chile is south of the equator. Its seasons are the opposite of those north of the equator. December is a summer month. June is a winter month. There are deserts, mountains, and forests in Chile. There are also areas of snow and ice. Chile is bordered by three countries. Argentina lies Hikers climb the icy slopes of Villarica Volcano in Chile s Lake Country. 5
