9 Part III Hotel Information Lima, Peru 1. City Profile Lima City is divided into two parts: the old city and the new city. The old town is located in the northern part of the city, close to the Ricmark River, and the street stretches from the northwest to the southeast, paralleling the Rickack River. The streets are often named after the provinces and cities of Peru. The streets are narrow and the houses are low, mostly built during the colonial period. There are numerous plazas in the Old Town, best known as the Armed Square in the center of the city. Centered on this square, the streets extend radially to the surrounding areas, leading to all corners of the city. The streets are paved with large slabs, which are antique. There is a fountain in the center of the square, splashing water, misty, glittering in the sun, making the city particularly lively. The eastern end of the square is a Catholic church built in the 17th century. It maintains a strong Spanish architectural style. The church has a silver altar, a well-built chapel and a glass coffin parked by the square architect and the Spanish colonial leader Pizarro.. Other famous buildings around the square include the government building built in 1938, the municipal building built in 1945, and numerous commercial buildings and supermarkets. The Old Town also has beautiful Alameda Park, the most prosperous commercial center of Union Street, the wide and bustling streets of Nikolas de Pierrota, San Martin Square, Bologonesi Square, and the oldest university in South America---the University of San Marcos. Lima is a world-famous rain-free city. There are no thunder and lightning flashes all year round. There are no storms. As for icing and snowing, it is unheard of. There is no rain in Lima. It is not that the rain does not fall all the year round, but the annual rainfall is only about 15 mm. The characteristic of the rainfall is that the dewdrop formed by the dense wet mist falls down in the powdery form. During the rainy season, the sky is ash, the haze does not scatter for many days, the fog is misty, the time is long, the road surface is wet, the vegetation is dripping, and the land is infiltrated. Although Lima has less rainfall, the temperature is not terrible. The annual average temperature is around 19 C. The average temperature in the coldest month is 16 C. The average temperature in the hottest month does not exceed 24 C. It is a veritable season. The city of Lima is not only a mild

10 climate, but also a lush plant. All the streets are covered with trees, and the street parks are all over the city. In those scattered areas, it is not planting flowers or planting grass; each residential area is a quiet and elegant green area, the trees in front of the building are lush, and the walls are exposed. Slices of green leaves, bunches of safflower. It is precisely because the greening work is done well, although the downtown area of Lima and the deserted area along the western coast are close at hand, there is no sight of the sand-filled or flying sand. In the western coastal zone of Peru, it has been dry and rainless all year round, and it has formed a deserted area for a long time. Lima is the country's industrial and financial centre and one of Latin America's most important financial centers,home to many national companies and hotels. It accounts for more than two thirds of Peru's industrial production and most of its tertiary sector. The Metropolitan area, with around 7,000 factories, leads industrial development, thanks to the quantity and quality of the available workforce, transport and other infrastructure. Products include textiles, clothing and food. Chemicals, fish, leather and oil derivatives are manufactured and/or processed. The financial district is in San Isidro, while much of the industrial activity takes place west of downtown, extending to the airport in Callao. Lima has the largest export industry in South America and is a regional hub for the cargo industry. 2. Travel Guide Lima Gold Museum The Peruvian Gold Products and World Weapons Museum, referred to as the Gold Museum, is a private collection museum founded in 1966 in the Montelico district of Lima. The museum exhibits artifacts collected by agronomists, financiers, and diplomats, the Miguel Mujica Gallo family. The collections are divided into two parts: The first part shows the weapons of the world since the 16th century, including the Sabre used by the heroes of the Latin American War of Independence, the weapons used by Napoleon,

12 the ancient Chinese swords, and the uniforms, armor, and harnesses of various countries. The work is exquisite and beautiful; the second part is a collection of gold, silver products, mummies, costumes, carvings and pottery products unearthed in Peru from the 5th century BC to the 5th century, to understand the famous Mochi in Peruvian history. Cards, Chimu and Nazca cultures, as well as the customs and lives of ancient Peruvian indigenous people, are very helpful and of high artistic value. The museum has been listed as a national heritage unit by the Peruvian government, and some of its exhibits have been exhibited in North America, Europe, Japan and some countries in South America. The museum houses a cane-style sabre presented by Chairman Mao. In October 1995, Premier Li Peng visited the pavilion with the inscription The splendid cultural heritage, the laborer's labor crystallization and presented a copy of the Ma Tai Fei Yan cultural relics. In May 2000, Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited the museum with the inscription "The Treasure of Peruvian Culture, the Pride of the Inca Civilization" and a set of ancient coins. Archaeological Site of Chavin Archaeological Site of Chavinis located in the province of Ancash in western Peru. It is from 1500 BC to 300 BC and is a culture developed in the alpine valleys of the Andes in Peru. There are criss-crossing corridors in the city of Chavin, the tall Lanzong Temple and the Taiyou Pyramid, as well as numerous stone carvings. The slopes and squares are surrounded by stone buildings, accompanied by a large number of animal-shaped decorations, and the scenery is unique. The ruins were a place of worship in ancient times and a long-standing place in Colombia. In 1985, UNESCO listed it as a cultural heritage on the World Heritage List. The gorge where the Chavon archaeological site is located is located on the eastern side of the Cordillera Blanca Mountains in the Andes. The Wach Eksa and Mosna rivers are two glaciers that meet and flow into the main tributaries of the Amazon River to the northeast, while the Chavon archaeological site is located at the intersection of the two glaciers. The canyon is very narrow and generally does not exceed 5 km in width. The site is about 3,200 meters above sea level, and the tall mountains here rise to about 4,400 meters above the site. The site consists of a settlement and a monumental art building connected to it. The settlement was built in the first millennium of AD. In the course of this millennium, the number of inhabitants of the settlement has grown from just over a thousand to two to three times the number of indigenous inhabitants; after the construction of monumental art buildings, most of this millennium In time, it was constantly remodeled and a series of expansions were carried out. At some point in the third century after the Christian era, people no longer use it. The monumental art buildings in the study include a series of trapezoidal, platform and buildings made of stone and plaster. These architectural structures represent a complex of temples that can be called the old temple and the new temple. Each complex is a U shaped mound surrounded by open

13 spaces. The center of the old temple square is a circle, and the center of the new temple square is a square. The most striking of these sites is the many galleries built inside the temple complex. In the first millennium after the Christian era, the Chavon archaeological site was mainly used as a religious center. The excavations in the site indicate that the religious rituals here are mainly like totemists, turning people into totem animals, especially jaguars and caiman.
