2 In Pirkkalankylä, about five kilometres west from the center of Pirkkala, there are several historic remains of which the area of Tursiannotko is best known. Archeological escavations have been carried out in Tursiannotko in 2012, 2013, 2015 and The escavations have uncovered a location of a historic village together with numerous ancient relics. The discoveries include, e.g., decorative bone spoons, charming glass beads and the remains of the oldest sauna stove found in Finland. The recent escavations have provided a wealth of new data on the settlement in the area in the late Iron Age ( A.D.).
