2 19th LADIES COARSE ANGLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 From: Sunday 19 August 2012 (arrival teams) To: Monday 27 August 2012 (departure teams) Welcome on behalf of the chairman of Sportvisserij Nederland Dear angling friends, On behalf of Sportvisserij Nederland (Sport Fishing Netherlands), it gives us great pleasure to invite you to enter the 19th Ladies Coarse Angling World Championship 2012 (Ladies World Championship 2012), to be held in our beautiful northern wetland province of Friesland, with its numerous attractive waterways and canals. The Ladies World Championship 2012 will be held between 19 and 26 August 2012, on the Van Harinxmakanaal in Leeuwarden. We are very honoured that in December 2011, FIPSed decided to award the Ladies World Championship 2012 to the Netherlands, and that Friesland has been given this opportunity and been entrusted with the task of playing host to the best female coarse anglers in the world. The current Ladies World Champion, Ingeborg Audenaerd from the Netherlands, will also have an opportunity to defend the title she won in Italy at home. The Netherlands, and in particular the province of Friesland, are characterised by numerous lakes, canals and waterways where both recreational and competitive level sport fishing can be practised intensively. The province of Friesland also boasts an abundance of charming old cities and villages. We would like to invite you to visit these too during your stay, and to enjoy Friesland s beauty. We hope that the Ladies World Championship will take place in a sporting and competitive spirit and that great collaboration and friendship will be created between competition anglers, volunteers and visitors. 3 WHERE IS LEEUWARDEN SITUATED? Leeuwarden is the capital of the wetland province of Friesland, in the north of the Netherlands. The city is known for its beautiful old centre, with canals and the "Oldehove" leaning tower. To the south-west of Leeuwarden are the extensive Frisian Lakes, the largest chain of connected inland lakes in Europe. This is a popular area for sailing and a large sailing competition is held on the Frisian Lakes each year, using old cargo vessels with sails called 'Skútsjes.' Of course fishing is also incredibly popular in this area. To the south-east of Leeuwarden are the Frisian Woods, an area where many forests are interspersed with pasture and farms, characterised by the earthy scents of forest and peat. To the North of Leeuwarden is an extensive agricultural region (Het Bildt) consisting of sea clay with a great many picturesque little villages and scattered large agricultural farms. Even further north are the four Frisian Islands (Waddeneilanden), which are lovely places to visit, with beautiful beaches and dunes. Throughout Friesland there are countless waterways and canals where there is a lot of pleasure boating but, happily for our fans, also excellent opportunities for rod fishing from boats or from the bank. Then there are the Frisian 'eleven towns,' which are a shopping and culture must. In short, Friesland offers an experience you will never forget; you will be fascinated by the beautiful villages, vistas, landscape and lakes. You can completely relax and unwind in this province. You will be greeted with a warm welcome as you explore. Last but not least, Friesland is the only province with its own recognised language, Frisian (Frysk). Of course Dutch is also spoken there. The distance to Schiphol Airport by car is around 150 kilometres, whilst Amsterdam is 130 kilometres from Leeuwarden. THE COMPETITION WATER The competition will be held on the Van Harinxmakanaal (Canal) in Leeuwarden, between the railway bridge and the Overijsselsebrug (bridge), in the Nylân district in the south of

The competition venue will be approximately metres long and 60 metres wide. There is a cycle path along this stretch of the canal, where competitors may unload their equipment. Parking in every sector is possible within metres of the pitch. During the training and competition period, cars may not be parked along this stretch of the canal. The venue is interrupted by three trees, but these do not interrupt any of the sections. There is plenty of parking for competitors and spectators in Nylân, as well as further parking across the Overijsselse bridge, at the Nylân sports fields, and across the railway bridge, at the De Lorentz industrial park. There are around four buses every hour along Julianalaan and Overijsselselaan, stopping close to the competition venue. The intention is that the cycle path along this stretch of the canal will be kept free of cars. A youth clinic and other activities will be set up on the patches of grass next to the flats. Here there will also be tents for the World Championship judges and organisers.

The difference in depth across the width of the canal is the same over the whole venue and there are no side channels. The total width of the canal is 60 metres. Sections A, B, C, D and E may be interrupted by three trees. There is no other vegetation along the canal. The opposite bank of the canal is made up of basalt blocks, overgrown with reeds. Commercial shipping and pleasure boating both take place on the Van Harinxma Canal. During the World Championship competitions (25 and 26 August), efforts will be made to limit commercial shipping on the canal. Pleasure boats, tour boats and clippers may continue to navigate, at a distance, during the competitions. The main fish species to be caught are: Bream, Roach, White Bream, Perch and Carp. In smaller quantities there are also Ide and Zander. During training, from Monday, and the two official competition days of the Ladies World Championship 2012, no minimum sizes for fish species will be applicable. The government has granted an exemption for this. Permission has also been granted for use of catapults during training and the World Championship. The most commonly used technique is a solid rod or match rod. 7 MAXIMUM FEED AND BAIT QUANITIES AND ROD LENGTHS Feed: no more than 20 litres including additives Bait: no more than 2.5 litres, of which no more than 1 litre may be jokers or bloodworms, including no more than 0.5 litres vers de vase. The quantities of bait/feed may be adjusted. During the 2012 World Championship, a feed and bait check will take place five minutes after the second signal. Competitors should have an official bucket and containers with capacity markings. During the training days, no more than 17 litres of feed, including additives, may be used during the entire day for heavy feeding. For bait, no more than 2.5 litres, of which no more than 1 litre may be jokers or blood worms and including 0.5 litres of vers de vase. The maximum rod length is 11,5 metres. Keep-nets must be at least 4 metres long and have a diameter of 40 cm for round types and 50 cm for rectangular types. REGISTRATION OF NATIONAL TEAMS All teams should register between and (between 2 and 6 p.m.) on Sunday 19 August 2012, at the Campanile Hotel Goutum, Wergeasterdijk 1, 9084 AS Leeuwarden (Goutum). All additional information will be handed to teams on registration. Each country should bring its own flag and a CD with the national anthem.

8 ENTRY FEES FOR NATIONAL TEAMS The entry fee for each country is 1.200,--, along with 120,-- for FIPS-ed: in total The entry fees include organisation costs, 9 tickets for the Closing Dinner, 6 fishing permits, insurance and the gifts presented to national teams by Sportvisserij Nederland. If you require additional tickets for the Closing Dinner, these can be ordered in advance for per person. Competitors, coaches, supporters etc. should be present at the WTC EXPO, Heliconweg 52, 8914 TC Leeuwarden by (5.30 p.m.), for a boat trip through the beautiful old centre of Leeuwarden, which will take you to De Koperen Tuin, Prinsentuin 1, 8911 DE, Leeuwarden. Supporters, management and family can park their cars at the Oldenhoofschekerkhof car park, around 5 minutes walk from De Koperen Tuin. THE 19TH LADIES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY The official prize giving ceremony will take place on Sunday 26 August 2012 at at the stage alongside the competition venue. Following the prize giving ceremony, there will be a Closing Dinner for all competitors and invited guests, in the WTC EXPO building, Heliconweg 52, 8914 TC Leeuwarden.

Training will be possible on other parts of the Van Harinxmakanaal in Leeuwarden.
