The parade, preceded by the marching band, will reach the War memorial Monument where a laurel wreath will be laid. 4 UDINE is a city in northeastern Italy, in the middle of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps. The centre of Udine is dominated by its Castle, on a hill that lodges some museums and an art gallery with the works by Tiepolo and Caravaggio and offers a full view of the city and of the surrounding mountains. In the principal square (Piazza della Libertà) stand Renaissance buildings, among which the town hall (Loggia del Lionello) built in white and pink marble and, opposite, a clock tower (Torre dell'orologio) resembling that of the Piazza San Marco in Venice. CIVIDALE THE DEVIL S BRIDGE The name of the bridge derives from a popular legend, most likely fuelled by the tormented construction vicissitudes of the building: it is said that in order to build the bridge, the inhabitants of Cividale had asked the Devil for help. He would have demanded in return the soul of the first creature that had passed on the bridge. Accepted the agreement, in one night the Devil erected the bridge, but the following morning the citizens managed to make an animal pass on the bridge ( a cat or a dog or perhaps even a pig, according to other versions: it seems that in some times of the year someone has heard some noise, similar to grunts, coming from the river bed around the bridge). The Devil mocked in this way, had to be happy with the soul of the animal leaving the Cividalese forever in peace. According to another popular version, the devil would have limited himself to simplifying the construction of the work by placing the large stone on which the central pillar of the bridge rests. ESCURSIONE IN LAGUNA The boat trip in the Marano lagoon and to the mouth of the Stella river with the motor vessel Nuova Saturno gives the possibility of living UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS IN TIGHT CONTACT WITH NATURE. The same Hemingway described the quiet magic of this landscape that soars from the sea to the sky where time flows slowly and the rhythm of life is still like the one of past time in his novel Across the river and into the trees
