1 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is our pleasure to announce this year s Serb Fest, which will be held on September 24 th. As always, Serb Fest will feature a variety of delicious ethnic food and pastries, Church tours, and live entertainment. This year we are hoping to once again add to and enhance the event by closing out the day by dancing with Orchestra Pobeda of Pittsburgh! You ve heard them at both picnics now and we hope you are looking forward to this as much as we are! Dancing with Pobeda will begin after vespers at 6:30pm and will continue into the night until 11:00pm. While entrance to Serb Fest will remain free, admission for the dance will be charged (Age 16+ will be $10, Age 5-15 will be $5, and Ages 4 and under will be free). Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the dance. We are excited to have a full night of dancing with Orchestra Pobeda and hope that you will close out the night with us! As you all know from years past, a festival of this size does not come without a price tag and multiple hours of volunteer work. We are, once again, humbly asking that you consider donating your time, talents, and/or treasures to make this year s Serb Fest another successful event. There are many ways to do this: 1. Event Sponsorships & Boosters: You may sponsor an area of the festival, a specific menu item, or be a general sponsor of the event. Groups or organizations, as well as individuals, may become sponsors. All sponsors and boosters will be recognized for their generous support. 2. Item Donations: Attached to this letter you will find a list of needed paper goods for Serb Fest. Any of these items can be donated to help defer the cost of supplies. 3. Place an Ad or Greeting: Whether it be a personal greeting or an ad for your business, it will be included in the festival program book, which will be distributed to all festival attendees at the entrance. Photos are encouraged, as well as business cards 4. Volunteer: We are always in need of people to donate their time and volunteer. Without the help of the congregation we would not be able to run this event. You may sign up directly with Popadija Andreja or Bojan Gligorevic, or on sign-up sheets that will be posted in the social hall. 5. Themed Basket Donation: We are asking for themed baskets to be donated for the basket raffle. Themes can be anything from game night to a night at the movies, sweet treats, or sports, or a collegiate fan basket. Baskets should have a list of what s inside included that can be seen easily and be delivered no later than 10:00am on the day of Serb Fest, September 24 th. Just like with sponsorships and boosters, baskets can be by individuals or groups and organizations. So get together with your friends and kumovi and put together a basket you would want to win. 6. Invite Your Friends: Help us publicize the event. Grab some fliers and put them up on community billboards, post them at work, them to your friends and family. The more the merrier this is not just an event for our parish but our entire local community. Help share our faith and traditions!

2 We know that we are blessed with a generous congregation, that was more than evident with the success of last year s event, and pray that you will take the time to review the enclosed information and forms and become a sponsor, give a donation, and/or volunteer your time. We thank you in advance. As with last year, the profits for Serb Fest will be distributed as follows: 50% to an Orthodox Charity, 25% to the Fr. Srboljub Fund, and 25% to the St. Nicholas General Operating Fund. This year, the 50% will be donate to St. Sava Cathedral in New York to help rebuild their church after the devastating fire on Pascha. As a committee we feel that this donation will be the most beneficial use of 50% of the proceeds. St. Sava is not only a cathedral to many parishioners but the Diocesan See, the Bishop s seat. We, the Serb Fest Committee, are aware and can appreciate that there are cash flow issues with our general operating budget we are not disregarding or discounting that. However, we yet again have the opportunity as a Christ centered community to practice Stewardship of Our Lord s resources; to give in sacrificial love and help our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in greeter need. The more we are involved outwards of our community, both locally and with the wider Orthodox Community, the more God will bless us and provide us to do His work and will. As the Holy Apostle Paul says, we will truly reap what we sow. When we are willing to sow generously, we will also reap generously; however, when we sow sparingly, we will reap sparingly. Yes, it might be a struggle of faith for some to see how donating 50% of the Serb Fest profits will benefit our congregation, but we ask that you open your hearts and minds to trust in God and put your faith in Him. God will provide. We pray you find it in your hearts to support this great event and hope to see you at Serb Fest and into the night as we dance with Pobeda. 3 Драга Браћо и Сестре у Христу, Са задовољством вас обавештавамо да ће се овогодишњи Српски Фестивал одржати 24-ог Септембра. Као и увек, на Српском Фестивалу ће те наћи многобројна традиционална и укусна јела,слаткише, забаву и имаћете прилику да боље упознате Цркву. И ове године ми покушавамо да обогатимо фестивал додајући још понешто ново, од чега вреди издвојити вечерњи концерт оркестра Победа из Пицбурга. Вечерња игранка ће почети после вечерњег Богослужења у 6:30 пп и завршиће се у 11:00 пп. За ову игранку наплаћиваће се улазнице и то $10 за старије од 16 год.; $5 за децу од 5 год. до 15 год. (Улаз на сам фестивал и даље је бесплатан). Многи од нас су већ имали прилику да чују и да се веселе уз оркестар Победа, па нам је посебно драго ће мо се поново дружити цело вече. Као што можете предпоставити, фестивал ових димензија се неће десити без многобројних сати добровољног труда и рада. Ми вас срдачно молимо да и ви одлучите и дате своје време,таленат и/или новац, да би и овај Српски Фестивал био још један у низу успешних. Постоји више начина на које можете помоћи: 1. Спонзори и Присталице Фестивала Можете спонзорисати одређени део фестивала, одређено јело са јеловника, или бити генерални спонзор фестивала. Групе или организације, као и појединци, могу бити спонзори. Сви спонзори и подржавачи ће бити поменути за њихову подршку. 2. Даровање неког артикла Укључено у овоме писму наћи ће те листу потребних папирних и пластичних артикли за фестивал. Можете поклонити било који од њих да би смањили трошкове фестивала. 3. Начините рекламу или поздрав: Било да је ваш лични поздрав за некога или реклама за вашу приватну фирму, ваш оглас ће ући у брошуру са садржајем фестивала, која ће се делити свим гостима фестивала. Подстичемо вас да пошаљете слике као и пословне картице. 4. Волонтер: Увек су нам потребни људи који желе да одвоје време и помогну. Без помоћи наших Парохијана оваква збивања се неби могла одржавати. Да би сте се пријавили да помогнете, јавите се Попадији Андреји или Бојану Глигоревићу или се једноставно упишите на листу волотера која ће бити у сали Цркве. 5. Поклон корпа са неком темом: Потребне су нам поклон корпе са темом које ће касније бити додељиване као награде. Теме могу бити: игре, улазнице за биоскоп, слатке посластице,спорт и слично. Уз корпу приложите и листу артикала који су у њој. 6. Позовите ваше пријатеље Помозите нам да се представимо нашим комшијама и шире. Узмите рекламе и летке и поставите их у вашем комшилуку,на послу, позовите родбину и пријатеље!

4 Ми знамо да смо благословени са дародарљивом заједницом, што је било више него очигледно у успеху прошлогодишњег фестивала и ми се надамо да ће те одвојити времена да погледате све укључене информације и форме и да ће те постати спонзор, дати прилог и/или помоћи. Ми смо вам унапред захвални. Као што је урађено и прошле године, профит фестивала ће се поделити на следећи начин: 50% за неку Православну милостињу, 25% за фонд Оца Србољуба (фонд за милостињу при нашој Цркви) и 25% за генерални фонд наше Цркве. Ове године 50% профита ће бити приложено за обнову Цркве Светог Саве у Њујорку која је изгорела за Васкрс. Ми као комитет осећамо да је помоћ најпотребнија овој Цркви која није само знаменити храм,него је и седиште нашег Владике и целе Епархије. Ми, комитет Српског Фестивала, знамо да и наша Црква има проблема са новцем у главном фонду, и ми то не занемарујемо, нити игноришемо. Како било, ми имамо ови прилику да, као Христом вођена заједница, будемо прави Старатењи и домаћини онога са чиме располажемо, и да са одрицањем и љубављу помогнемо нашу браћу и сестре који су у већим проблемима од нас. Што се више укључујемо, у ближој и широј Православној заједници, бићемо више благословени и Бог ће нас усмеравати да радимо по његовој вољи. Свети Апостол Павле каже: Заиста ће те жњети онако како посијете. Кад сијемо обилато и жњећемо обилато, али ако штедимо на сјетви, слабо ће нам и родити! Да, биће и невјерних који неће разумети како ће мо ми помоћи себи тако што ће мо некоме дати 50% профита од Српског Фестивала, али ми вас молимо да отворите своје срце и разум и повинете своју веру Господу, Он ће нам увек вратити вишеструко кад од срца дајемо.
