2 2 Glen Solomon - Commodore Hello Everyone, Stefano Coaloa won the Guacamole Contest. He made a delightful presentation with his lovely wife Debra. His fare included some ingredients from as far away as Iran and Mexico. I found one of the peppers unexpectedly and the burn did not go away for an hour and three IPAs. We threw a lot of tortillas this year. There were about 15 flyers. A gentleman guest of Stefano, I believe his name is Julian, tossed the farthest and second farthest. An amazing distance. Staff Commodore Osser was biting part of his tortilla before each throw.????? They didn t go very far. He was fun to watch. Gonzo was on the grill again, cooking the Carne Asada. None of it landed in the dirt. Everyone was full. Thanks Gonzo. Let me say Happy Cinco de Mayo. And, if you didn t make the CdM Cruise this year, well you missed out on some good sailing, great weather, fun times and lots of friends. This year the weather was what everyone is always asking for: great temps, dry and a light breeze. About 25 people and 6 boats on this trip. Inside the harbor, it was like a pond. Missed ya.

3 3 The Homeport Regatta after party was hosted at the Club on this same weekend. Patricia Garrett and Kent Andersson stepped in to see that everyone was fed and had a good time. We had some visitors, Ian and Jan, from the Segas Sailing Club of Kent in Great Britain. You can see more of their club at Tony Milazzo sponsored a Country Western Dance Night with instructors. We learned a couple of steps and practiced and laughed. It was a great Friday night Director s dinner that lasted until late into the night. I want to thank all of you for your support these past couple of months. There have been a bunch of functions for the Club and Private parties. Everyone says they have the best time at our Club and I can only attribute it to you. Thank you. The website is up and we have updated some of the info. The leadership are going to sit down and see what else we want to do with it. We found old LOGS dating back to Fun to read and remember. Times have changed since then. That s it for this month. 4 4 Kent Andersson - Vice Commodore Hello, Swap Meet Update PMYC will have a spot at the Swap Meet which will be on June 6. If anyone has something to donate, please contact me at kent@pmyc.org and we will sell it at the booth. Donations go to the Kid s Slip Fishing Program. 5 5 Curt Bersche - Rear Commodore Ahoy the Club! I would like to thank those members of the Membership Committee (Kent Andersson, Pearl Andreas, Maggie Butte, Mark Chapin, Eric Dugdale, Karen Ellis, Pat Garrett, Rob Matchett, Terry Matchett, Wendi Matchett, Keith Mott, Michael Murbarger, Peter Sternberger and Randi Sternberger) for working at the club and/or the membership booth at Marina Fest on April 11 and 12. They did an outstanding job. Thanks to their fantastic efforts they obtained contact information from over 50 people who showed interest in joining PMYC. Of the 50+, 12 people showed up at the Director s dinner and country western dance lesson on April 24. Lots of interest in joining PMYC. The Swap Meet is coming up on June 6 where we will have another membership drive. I would also like to thank the Directors who participated in the Friday Night Dinner on April 24. A special shout out goes to Peter and Rhonda Breum who did an incredible job cooking with the assistance of Michael Murbarger. The May 15 FND is going to be moved to Saturday, May 16 for Tony Milazzo s Country Western Night. Thank you, Tony for organizing this event. Don t forget that there is one more dance lesson after the May 8 Friday night dinner. 6 6 Keith Mott - Fleet Captain Greetings Mates: Well, another Cinco de Mayo cruise has come and gone and if you were not there, you missed it. While many of you stayed on the mainland and paid $100 to see a crummy fight, for $10.00 we had fun times at the Island and great laughs with Club members and friends. Great swells going over with lots of whale sightings along the way. Congratulations to this year s Guacamole Contest winner Stefano and his guest on winning the Tortilla toss contest. Thanks to Gonzo for the great food. Thanks to Pearl for helping me put everything together and thanks to John Reynoso for allowing me to travel on his boat with all the goodies for the cruise. Big thanks to Commodore Glen Solomon for supporting this fun event and helping out in a lot of ways. Next Cruise is the Father s Day Cruise to Avalon, June 19, 20, 21. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Cruise Change: looking to move the date and location of the Luau Cruise, so stand by. Race Events: Thanks to Pat Garrett for stepping up and hosting the Home Port Regatta event at the club. While most of us were at Two Harbors sipping Tequila, Pat, being the gracious host, stepped up and took care of the sailors of the 2015 Homeport Regatta. I heard nothing but great things from the sailors and guests who attended. Because Pat was there, I did not expect anything less than PMYC s first class treatment. The next race event with PMYC as the host will be the WOW (Women On The Water) race August 22, Pat, are you ready? Mother s Day Brunch: I hope everyone will attend another fabulous brunch weekend with their families at the club for Mother s day. Deborah has put together another fabulous event, so bring your mother and family and enjoy. As most of you know, My mother, Juanita L. Mott, passed away a year ago on Mother s Day at her home in Virginia with my brother and I by her side. I hope everyone takes the time to kiss, hug, laugh and enjoy this special day with their moms. Rest in Peace Mom, miss you, love you.

7 7 Sam Edwards - Port Captain Hello, In the last month I have been to Quebec Canada, snowed on and froze. Brooklyn NY, rain and cold. West Virginia, more rain. Chicago, freezing rain and sleet. Back to Marina Del Rey, sunshine and warm temps. I wonder why so many people like living here. Get down to the club and enjoy what we have here. We have permission to install three Floats to increase our storage of Kayaks and Paddleboards. The floats have been acquired and are being prepped to go in the water. I am just waiting for the marina to put cleats on the dock to hold the floats in place. The May OD list is filled out. As you can see on the OD list, June is wide open. Again, I remind the membership to choose their own OD date. Sign up early, sign up often. If you cannot come by the club and have specific dates you are interested in, please contact me at pmyc.samedwards@gmail.com. Let s get this season off to a good start. Have fun and be safe. 8 8 PMYC's Country Western Dance Guru Gruchalla Is Back! Friday, May 8 after dinner in our very own clubhouse (saloon) Country Western Night will follow on Saturday, May 16 with LIVE Country Dance Band (The Mary White Band) & Fred Gruchalla will be there again to lead you through everything you learned. Couple line dances "Electric Slide" and "Power Jam" plus some basic Country Two-Step. Fred started teaching in 1993 and began competing in In 1997 he won the World Championships in the dance organization CWDI (Country Western Dance International). He taught for 13 years at the World Famous "Cowboy Palace Saloon" in Chatsworth. He continues to teach today giving private and group lessons to beginners and advanced country western dancers. Just recently he taught and performed at the annual Cambria Western Jamboree, up near the Hearst Castle. Take advantage of these "rare" lessons with a Championship Dancer.
