2 PAGE 2 VOLUME 45 NUMBER 5 TED S SNAPPY CHATTER As Mary Ellen and I stand on the dock, waving goodbye to yet another fleet sailing over for the Cinco de Mayo cruise at the Isthmus, I can only hope that we will be ready to go for the next cruise. The General Membership meeting and Friday Dinner combo, have been a big hit. We were honored to have 7 Staff Commodores at our last one. Try to make the next FND & GMM on May 11 th. If ya can t make it Friday night, BE SURE TO BRING MOM AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY to the PMYC Mother s Day Champagne Brunch on Sunday May 13 th, from 10:00 until 2:00. The staff Commodores and I will be putting it on. We will be serving champagne, juice, fresh fruit, Linda Black s famous French toast, ham, bacon, sausage, there will be an omelet bar and Ted s pasta bar. All this for only 12 bucks, Kids $5. Don t miss it. Back to my bed of nails. 3 THE LOG PAGE 3 NOTES FROM THE VICE COMMODORE CATALINA CRUISE FOR CINCO DE MAYO: The season is upon us to get out in our boats and make the trip across to Catalina Island. There is an excitement to learn that already 19 boats have signed up for the trip. As you may know, Friday night will be pot luck night. For my part, Pat and I will be bringing Tamales with TOMMY'S chili. Now as far as Tommy's chili is concern, you either like it or not. I have talked to many people about that chili and there seems to be no middle ground. There are no lukewarm lovers of Tommy's chili. So, to those people that remember going over to Beverly Blvd. and Rampart St. for that classic burger, hot dog or tamale along with the chili, this will be a chance to give it another chance. We will have chopped onions, grated cheese, green/red chilies to name just some of the good stuff. So I hope you will join us in the fun. Some of you will get a call from Fred W., our Cruise Chair. Great job Fred!!! You will be asked to bring a little something to help out the weekend such as a bag of BBQ briquette or something. Please bring what Fred coordinates with you. We will be having the original PMYC contests which includes the tortilla throwing contest. Staff Commodore Steve Cordova won last year and promises to give all his best defense. As far as the guacamole, I am on for that one. I will be in the running with my best effort and the Cabo recipe. MOTHERS DAY: May 13, the next week after the cruise is a super brunch. The Internationally famous pasta bar will be in operation by our Commodore Ted W. Mix and match your choice of pasta with your choice of gravy (Italian for sauce). If that is not enough, and we really need more, how about Linda's French Toast? Linda Black, one of our famous Chefs is taking time from her busy Real Estate Business to once again tempt us with her French Toast. As far as other food, you know there will be plenty. This is a really nice event and you as well as your family should take advantage of this brunch. Join us from 10:00 am to 2:00PM on Mother's Day. POOL TABLE: This is the big stuff. Last meeting we voted on getting a new pool table cover. It will be PMYC blue, rather than ordinary green. I hope some of you have been following the fun in the back room as the cues do their job. FUTURE EVENTS TO WATCH FOR: Father's Day Cruise at Avalon; June 14,15,16. Swedish night at the club for Friday night dinner June 8. For those of you that would like Andersson (two s's) to teach you the wonders of Aquavit and pickled herring, this is the night. Bring some money and buy him a drink and he will tell you all about this event. So far, it looks like Memorial Day weekend will result in a BBQ on Monday of the weekend. Wait for the next edition for further details, but watch the notices around the club for the information. Now for the biggy of biggies. Our club is going to have a Crab feast. That means all the Alaskan King Crab that you can eat. For those of you that remember Leslie's birthday party (Miss Bushmill of 2007), you will recall the fantastic crab. Once again we are going to do it big time at the club. Look for that sign up sheet. You have to pay in advance and reserve to be counted. NO walk-ins at dinner time. This is going to be a night to remember. NAVIGATION CLASS: For those of you that forgot, the Nav class already started. Catch you next time. Meanwhile, wear you PFD, that orange thing. First - If you have NOT put a PMYC sticker in your car please see Bob Leger ASAP. More then once I have almost towed members cars, and on one occasion, I did! It is my responsibility to keep our parking free for members, it is your responsibility to ID your car. Next - For you guys that visit our guest dock, there is a new electronic key to open the gate at the guest dock. The "key" is located at the front door and when activated will cycle the gate lock for five minutes. That s about it for me - See ya on the water! Sparky Mundo Port Captain
