6 Fleet Locker Twist Cruises Raffle From Fleet Captain Dave Brzezowski For this year s cruise season, I am planning a Fleet Locker Twist Cruise Raffle and here is how it will work: I ve donated an Ozark Trail 52-Quart High-Performance Cooler (see photo below) that will serve as a small portion of the end of season prize. This raffle will be open to anyone who attends the cruises and earns entry tickets into the Fleet Locker Twist Raffle. How do you earn entries you ask? Here s how: Starting with the Shakedown cruise, you can earn an entry ticket (one per person per cruise only) by bringing a bottle of wine, a bottle of liquor or at least a 12 pack of beer to serve as rations on the cruise. Attend the main gathering of the cruise as designated by the Fleet Captain (potluck dinner, raft up, etc.) and you will be given an entry ticket. Half of the rations will be set up as a fleet bar for the cruise attendees to enjoy and the other half will be stowed away to serve as the other portion of could be the greatest prize on all the Chesapeake Bay. The cooler and the stowed rations will be given away at the Commodore s Ball on November 3 rd, 2018 to one lucky entry ticket holder. The potential size of this prize is huge! So, to summarize the Fleet Locker Twist Raffle: Attend and bring a bottle of wine or spirits or 12 pack of beer to earn a ticket o limit one per person per cruise Watch as the stowed rations grows throughout the cruise season o The cooler will be used to securely hold the entry tickets o The Fleet Captain may enlist volunteers to store some of the rations Hope your ticket is drawn during the Commodore s Ball o (need not be present for the drawing but I d prefer if you were) The Fleet Captain and Asst. Fleet Captain will have final say on disbursement of rations, raffle entries and any disputes that arise. That s if for now. See you at the club! Dave Brzezowski NERYC Fleet Captain Willow Rose Slip B48 - (610)

8 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT. From Membership Chair Judy Murray Our New Year s Resolution from your MEMBERSHIP CHAIR! We rounded out 2017 with 204 member families, with 34 new Full Memberships! Here is my challenge to our amazing NERYC members for 2018: 1. Help attract 45 new Full Memberships while encouraging our Juniors 2. Retain the wonderful members we already have. No amount of new members can offset losing current members because they are not feeling involved in NERYC. 3. How do we increase retention in 2018? With a Welcome Aboard Campaign. What is that, you ask? If you remember, during the Annual Meeting I asked for volunteers to help us retain our new members. They often need a little guidance so they enjoy and participate in our events throughout the year, attend Birthday/Anniversary Night DJ Parties each month, and in general just feel welcome by making new friends. That s why I need YOU. Your assignment should you choose to accept - me if you are willing to be assigned to contact a new member either by phone or , to pass on information on upcoming happenings at the club and answer any questions they might have along the way. We are talking about a 5 to 10 minute effort, once a month. It s simple, it s easy, and it s fun. I will pair you up as new members join us throughout the year. Can I count on you to help me with our Welcome Aboard Campaign in 2018? Many thanks for your help. Looking forward to hearing from you. Judy Murray Cell Judy.murray@foxroach.com

10 From Wes Dinsel NERYC Sail Program Chair NORTH SAILS SEMINAR Fifty-one people attended the "Boat Speed & Sail Trim" Seminar at NERYC run by North Sails. Steve Pickel put on an informative presentation with effective interactive computer visuals. I would like to thank Kyle Hanson for connecting NERYC with North Sails. And I would also like to thank North Sails and/or Kyle/Rick Hanson for coming up with the idea of donation fee for the sail seminar. Participants of the sail seminar graciously gave the NERYC Junior Sailing Program $800 dollars. I hope we can spend some of that money on prop guards for NERYC camp support/coach boats.
11 TREE TAKEDOWN TEAM! Many thanks to our NERYC member volunteers who came out to help take down trees on Saturday, January 27.
