2 Biking Spring is almost here and we are getting ready to start our biking group again. We have had several inquiries and hopefully many new participants will be joining our group this spring. Our group meets on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. at various bike trails. A new trail is choosen for each month. If you would like to join us, please Sherry at stehouwers@calschools.org and ask to be added to our list. We welcome new riders and hope to have you join us! Our first ride of the season will be Tuesday, May12 (weather permitting.) We will meet at the trail head on Main Street in Caledonia at 10 a.m. We will follow the trail along M-6 to Kalamazoo where we will stop for lunch at Pepinos before returning to Caledonia. Riders will be able to choose the distance they ride and are not required to stay with the group. An reminder will be sent to anyone on our list. Pickleball - Lessons or Open Play Cardio Tennis Love to play racquet sports? Pickleball is the newest and fastest growing sport in the U.S. It is a great game and very easy for beginners to learn! It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. A quick, fast-paced, competitive game that can be easily learned. Our instructor, Linda Jirous is a teacher who is also an avid pickleball player. She is passionate about teaching you this new sport. All equipment will be provided or you may purchase new equipment from the instructor. If you already know how to play you can still join us, we will have some courts designated for open play. Exercise while playing tennis. This will be a 4 week class that will involve drills, fun and exercising while playing tennis. This class is for beginners, intermediate and advanced players. Participants must have basic tennis skills (forehand, backhand, and volley.) Come and experience the ancient wisdom of Hatha Vinyasa Yoga to relieve daily or chronic pain. Bring clarity, calm, and focus to your mind with simple poses and the yoga breath. This slow flow gentle class will allow beginners, senior, or anyone recovering from injury or surgery to use props or even a chair to regain core strength, flexibility, and stamina. Tap into a rebirth of confidence and independence with slow gentle yoga. Our instructor, Sherry Lynn has over 1000 hours of experience and is ACSM PT, ACT GF, and American Heart Association Certified. Open Weight Room If you would like to get "Fit for Life," you are invited to join us in the weight room on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There will be a staff member in attendance during this time, however, use of the weight room is at your own risk. A completed emergency/ health form will be required of all participants. 3 Golf Outing Enjoy the day with us as we play a round of golf at a local West Michigan course. You must know how to play and have your own clubs. All levels of playing ability welcome. You must pre-register through the Caledonia Resource Center. Each month we will hike a different trail. Following our hike we will enjoy lunch at a restaurant near the trail. We will meet at the designated trail at 11:00 a.m. Our first month will be May where we will hike the North Country National Scenic Trail in Lowell. Please Sherry at stehouwers@calschools. org to be put on our list. An will be sent out the day before the hike to confirm the location or to cancel due to incliment weather. Wed 5/20 11:a.m. North Country National Scenic Trail - Lowell Coffee & Canvas Pottery Painting Learn a simple technique to paint lovely lace or classic burlap patterns on pottery. Painted creations will be brought to The Mud Room for glazing and firing, and will be available to pick up at the Resource Center 10 days after the class. Choose from round or square earthenware plates in two sizes. A variety of colors will be available to use, all of which are non-toxic and washable. Let your inner artist shine through at an artist instructed painting class hosted by local BRUSH Studio. BRUSH's highly trained and skilled artist will walk each painter through a step by step process on how to create their own version of the featured painting. Choose your own colors, relax while you paint your Picasso, and maybe make a new friend. All supplies included.
