Mims World Group is an Economic Development Consulting Company that is a resource and intermediary for large and small companies that would benefit from direct access to the Caribbean. As a for-profitcompany with offices in the Caribbean and U.S., we have over 25 years of combined experience in town planning, economic development, community development, tourism, marketing, strategic planning and all areas of communication. We have developed professional and personal relationships with key connections in the Caribbean that accentuate our success. Our mission is to create and develop growth opportunities for new and existing businesses and to influence a positive worldwide, year-round response to the many benefits of doing business and/or vacationing in the Caribbean. 3 PRINCIPLES Ralph L. Mims, MCP, President, The R. Mims World Group Ralph L. Mims Ralph L. Mims has over 30 years of planning, community and economic development experience. His family, which is from the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda), is seeking his experience to promote the emerging tourism and economic development sector in the Caribbean region. Mims has worked as a city planner and housing administrator in New York City and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is currently the Economic Development Manager for the Village of Los Lunas in the State of New Mexico, USA, where he is involved in several large economic development projects. Mims holds a Masters degree in City Planning from Howard University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Eric F. Garcia, Creative Director A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Garcia began his career in 1991 as an Assistant Art Director at Robinson & St. John Advertising (RSJ) in, Jacksonville Florida. While at RSJ, Garcia was part of the team that produced advertising and marketing campaigns for national and regional accounts including AT&T, Bank Boston, Ford Motor Company and Wendy s Restaurants. Garcia s team at RSJ won national and local ADDY awards for both broadcast and print advertising. Eric F. Garica In 1995 Garcia launched his own multidisciplinary design firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Garcia integrates graphic design, industrial design and marketing strategy to create identity programs and branding strategy, advocacy and awareness campaigns, corporate communications, consumer advertising, sales collateral, environmental design, product design and media relations initiatives. 4 Darren Higgs, Project Manager Darren Higgs A native of a small island off the west coast of Canada, Darren studied at the University of Victoria. After graduating with a Bachelor of Art degree, he relocated to New Mexico to be with his wife and undertake a career in Graphic Design. Darren joined EFG in He supports Eric Garcia during the creative development process. Darren believes in the power of a complete/holistic business solution - one that streamlines information through a clean and clear design to achieve a cost efficient solution that will increase productivity and sales. Francyl Etinoff, Caribbean Production Manager Francyl Etinoff Francyl Etinoff is the founder of Ciyl Services, a growing project management company specializing in the placement of technical and skilled personnel in Antigua since Along with his staff of five (5) specialists, Francyl enjoys the challenge of matching the right resources for the project on hand. With over 10 years of experience in project management activities, Francyl often draws on his secret weapon: an unparalleled network of contacts and resources that can open doors for business opportunities. In the re-organization of his company in 2014, he collaborated his resources and skills and joined the R. Mims World Group in New Mexico as the Caribbean Project manager. Sharon Lawson, VP, Tourism & Marketing Sharon Lawson A native Chicagoan and advertising and marketing specialist, Sharon Lawson spent 10 years with Crain Communication, a prominent 26 magazine publishing company, in advertising and sales, hardhearted in Chicago. Most recently, Sharon is employed with the Federal Government at Sandia National Laboratories involved in customer and training services. Sharon is a marketing professional who has vast experience in customer service, advertising in film, print, digital and audio. Most recently, Sharon has worked on campaign strategies for Nissan, Glidden paints, and Mary Kay cosmetics in further developing her marketing skills. She is currently a third year Bachelor of Arts student studying at the Southwest University of Visual Arts (SUVA), Albuquerque, NM. R. Mims World Group / 4
5 Laurie Roddick, Landscape Architect Laurie Roddick Laurie Roddick is a registered landscape architect with over 24 years of experience in landscape architecture, site planning, and municipal graphic design, and 19 years at the helm of Roddick & Dunbar Ltd. She has completed most of her work for municipal clients, including the State of New Mexico, cities of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, counties of Bernalillo and Los Alamos, Holloman Air Force Base, UNM, and Sandia National Labs, among others. Roddick is the designer of some well-known and celebrated Albuquerque New Mexico projects. The award-winning Vista Sandia Park (formerly Parkside Park), received the 2000 Park Design of the Year Award from the New Mexico Recreation and Parks Association, and is considered the City of Rio Rancho s premier xeriscape park. La eeqa Sekani, Caribbean Administrative Assistant La eeqa Sekani La eeqa Sekani, a freelance event planner and coordinator, has six (6) years experience in customer service and sales along with event planning and coordinating meetings and events. She currently has obtained a certificate in Business Studies in 2013 and prides herself on excellent customer service delivery producing timely results. In 2014 La eeqa joined the consultancy of the R. Mims World Group in New Mexico as the Caribbean Administrative Assistant to assist in the mission of business expansion in the Caribbean. Nolean Smith, United States Administrative Assistant Nolean Smith Nolean Smith, originally from Indiana, has lived in Albuquerque, NM, for over 19 years. Employed formerly as an Administrative Assistant with the City of Albuquerque, Nolean provided 13 years of outstanding service. With an avid interest in Southwest culture, Native American and, African American ties to New Mexico and the Southwest as a whole, her journey to New Mexico began with a passion. Nolean relocated to New Mexico in 1995 and enjoys dancing, cultural activities, traveling, the outdoors/nature, reading, swimming and movies.cosmetics in further developing her marketing skills. 6 UNITED STATES CANADA TARGET DEMOGRAPHICS The R. Mims World Group proposes targeting areas of the American West, including the states of Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, North Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as Western Canada. A total of nineteen states in the United States and two provinces and one territory in Canada. Our team determined that the top three demographics for new and unique tourism are: retirees, young professionals, and college-age adventure seekers. R. Mims World Group / 6
7 ADVERTISING & MARKETING SUGGESTIONS Selling Problems For many potential travelers in Western United States and Canada, the Caribbean is an unknown travel destination. The R. Mims World Group proposes marketing packages for travel to the Caribbean to include transportation and hotel accommodations, by negotiating deals with cruise lines and airways. Changing The Conversation Many misconceptions exist regarding travel to the Caribbean, including the idea that it is too far to travel to and that you need to know another language. In reality the journey consists of a short flight from Florida. In addition, the major language spoken is English. The R. Mims World Group will develop educational information about the Caribbean to inform potential travelers that may have concerns regarding the journey. Why The Caribbean? Surrounded by water, popular for sailing sports, sport fishing, windsurfing, and kite-surfing, this paradisaical oasis is home to some of the most outstanding beaches and fascinating culture in the world. Through advertising strategies, the R. Mims World Group will develop a tone of adventure, relaxation and serenity that goes hand in hand with beach-life and vacationing. Added Tools The R. Mims World Group will develop an easy travel package website for potential travelers with all airline, hotel, and cruise ship information, as well as available discounts, availability and travel agency networking. 8 ADVERTISING & MARKETING SUGGESTIONS (Cont.) Introduction Of Group/Self And Intent The R. Mims World Group will increase Caribbean tourism and economic development by tapping into the market of honeymooners; tourists, and vacationers of all ages. Things to Consider The Caribbean has a need for better marketing to draw tourism from the western part of the United States and western Canada. Advertisement and marketing of the Caribbean is generally not available in areas throughout the western part of the United States and western Canada. Marketing/Advertisement to potential tourist/travelers is not maintained or offer accessibility for the potential tourist in the western part of the United States and western Canada. Hotel rooms are not priced affordable enough to accommodate the potential middle income tourist Potential tourists in the western part of the United States and Canada are not aware of various areas in the Caribbean or that it is available via non-stop plane service and from major ports from the United States. Campaign The R. Mims World Group proposes Serving the Caribbean and Beyond as the advertising campaign s tagline. Executing second clips will include all three target demographic groups with the primary focus on travelers who want to experience the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful culture of the Caribbean. Other marketing may also include offering a scholarship for one year at an Caribbean University, a national competition to win an all expense paid vacation, and a Booking.com partnership ad campaign.
