1 April 2016 Dear Members, On behalf of the Managing Committee, I thank all the Members of Karachi on approving all the three projects forwarded to you during the Special General Body meeting. Your Publication Committee organized a very important workshop on the subject of Leading Change by the Mr. Umair Jaliawala which turned out to be an excellent program with large number of members participation. In fact it was such a huge success that most members want this program to be organized once again. I would also like to thank all the members of my sub-committee for putting up such an excellent effort. Your Publication sub-committee is also organizing another workshop for young members (15-17 years) in the first week of May. This program has limited seats and members will be accommodated on first come first served basis. Registration forms will be available at the reception. 2 April 2016 Managing Committee The Special General Meeting under rule 46 was convened on 31st March 2016, at Karachi Main Lawn which was attended by large number of Life & Permanent members to deliberate, approve with / without modification the upcoming projects including mega multi-story versatile building and refurbishing of Swimming Pool, Cards Room and Gents Sauna amenities with a view to bring them on global standards. The other reason of calling SGM was to seek from worthy members the approval of Annual budget for period We, the Managing Committee bow down to Allah SWT in gratitude that all three projects were approved by the General Body which is the supreme body of the club. We are also grateful to the General Body for having faith in the Managing Committee by approving all projects unanimously and upon request of President Ashfaq Yousuf Tola members also agreed to revamp the ladies sauna. The Mega Project (development of the adjoining Plots) was put forward to the General Body and a detailed presentation was given first by the architect and later details were discussed in great details by the President Mr. Ashfaq Y. Tola and Honorary Secretary Mr. Jawed H. Karim, explaining why such a huge project was the need of the hour. Notwithstanding, some members had reservation against these projects as apart from master project, renovation of other above-stated facilities which are already part of mega project is a waste of funds besides various other interlinked issues name a few parking of vehicles and non-availability of facilities during construction phase. Responding to these concerns President Ashfaq Yousuf Total and Honorary Secretary Jawed H. Karim, assured the house that Managing Committee is mindful of the obstacles and financial impediments in the way of said projects, thereby proposed some viable options to the house as way forward to overshadow sticking points -- increase of Rs. 100 in annual subscription, onetime 25% increase in monthly subscription, enhancement of new membership fee from Rs. 1.6 m to 2 m, offering Annexe membership separately and last but not least offering membership on installment basis. Whereas the parking issue during construction period is concerned, Honorary Secretary informed the house that he has productive dialogue with Chief Engineer Railway who also happens to be our member, has offered parking of approximately 300 vehicles in railway houses adjacent to Karachi, in addition negotiation for parking of vehicles in the open PPL plot is also underway. Honorary Secretary further illustrated that shuttle service between Main and Annexe will be introduced for members convenience if any of aforesaid facility is moved to Annexe. The house appreciated loudly untiring and diligent exertion of Honorary Secretary Jawed H. Karim in amicably resolving the issue of renewal of lease in respect of plot 22/1 for period of 99 years where s mega project is going to be built. The house also appreciated the splendid efforts of G.M. Jamali (T-Member) and Mr. Mohammad Hanif Musani (Life Member) for his useful counsel in the process of lease renewal.

4 April 2016 One of the main objectives behind renovation of the swimming pool was to give cover during summer months to our members and specially for ladies in view of the huge building fast approaching completion. The other objective behind renovating facility is to give new shape and state of the art design, uplifting ambiance, increase seating capacity and installation of motorized teflon slider assembly cover. Swimming Pool Convernor Mr. Zubair A. Razzak has put in a huge effort in this entire process and the end result so far is excellent. Chiseling and dismantling existing floor and tiles, construction of reinforced concrete masonry plaster, seating desks, floor tiling, plaster, stone cladding, wood cladding, wood raft, MS staircase, planter pockets, construction of shower cubical, construction of Jacuzzi, refurbishment of existing kitchen, construction of MS structure with motor ized Tefl on cover an d monument area. Installation of wiring, lighting and fixtures, switch gear, feeder, telephone system CCTV system and musical system and earthling The facility being old with passage of time as well as members grievances its deteriorating state requires refurbishment on modern lines meeting international standards. The Health & Fitness Convenor Mr. Ashfaq Ghory has been making relentless efforts for the last few years in making this facility a world class one and finally his hard work has paid off. 5 April 2016 Development of Plots 22/1 and 22/3 1, Card Rooms Refurbishment & Interior 7.65 Swimming Pool s refurbishing, installation of motorized Teflon Cover Gents Sauna refurbishing, construction of ceiling, wood rafting and cladding of 2.84 The other feature of Special General Meeting was to approve the budgetary proposals for the period of Apr Mar 2017, which was required under the s Rule. Meeting was presided over by the s President Ashfaq Yousuf Tola who was assisted by Honorary Secretary, Jawed H. Karim and Finance Convener Mohammad Sohail Yaqoob. A comparison of last budget v/s revised was presented along with current budgetary proposals. Following proposed budget has been unanimously approved without any modifications. 6 April 2016 Tennis KC Tennis Sub-Committee organized the 6th KC Team Event Tennis Championship 2016 from 15th-28th March where a total of 48 players participated in 4 categories. The Final was played between KC Greens & KC Blues which was eventually won by KC Greens after an intense battle with the score line of 3-1. Following are the results for each match: Asad Ali Bhagat & Asif Ismail (KC Greens) beat Ali Hassan Bhagat & Irfan Elahi 8-6 Sherry & Bilal (KC Greens) beat Kamran & Uzair 8-1 Saad & Shayan (KC Greens) beat Amjad & Ayub 8-6 Nadeem & Sarfaraz (KC Greens) lost to Adnan & Ismail 0-8 (WALKOVER) Best Performance Category Wise: Asad Ali Bhagat & Asif Ismail (KC Greens) Zain & Imran Abu Bakr (KC Orange) Amjad & Ayub (KC Blues) Nadeem & Sarfaraz (KC Greens) Out Standing Player of the Tournament: Asif Ismail (KC Greens) This was the 1st event of 2016 from the Tennis Sub Committee, more events to follow.

7 April 2016 Publication An Interactive Workshop by Umair Jaliawala on Leading Change by Publication Committee on 2nd April The Publication Sub-Committee organized an excellent interactive workshop by Umair Jaliawla on Leading Change. Umair is a leading speaker and conducts a number of courses and workshops for all type of organizations and audiences. It was a house full event with venue busting at its seams as more and more members wanted to listen to him. Mr. Shoaib Amin Dhedhi, convenor Publication and his team ensured that all those wanting to listen got a seat despite limited space. Members thoroughly enjoyed the program and certainly learned a lot from it. The event was followed by a dinner. Moral: Positive thinking Once there was a loving couple travelling in a bus in a mountainous area. They decided to get down at some place. After the couple got down at some place the bus moved on. As the bus moved on, a huge rock fell on the bus from the mountain and crushed the bus to crumbs. Everybody on board was killed. The couple upon seeing that, said, "We wish we were on that bus" What do you think why they saidthat? If they had remained on the bus instead of deciding to get down, the resulting time delay could have been avoided and the rock would have fallen after the bus had passed. There is a story which tells that during the bird shooting session, the instructor asked each shooter what he is looking at. One candidate said, I am looking at the flock of birds, another said, I am looking at the tree where birds are about to sit however one shooter said that I am looking of one of theflying birds! What is your perception or comment on the three answers? Logic to look: I want to draw your attention towards power of focus. Focus means to insert all of your energies on one goal and do not let any obstacles change your attention. What in your opinion is the moral of the story? Think positive in life always.

8 April 2016 Entertainment Music Festival - Live Concert (Umair Jeswal & Zoe Viccaji) by Entertainment Committee on 22nd March After a very long time, Karachi entertainment sub-committee organized a live concert for its members. Over a thousand members attended the concert. Initially Zoe Viccaji entertained the crowd specially the youngsters and later on Umair Jeswal took to the stage. The crowd was thoroughly entertained. One of the most well organized events so far at Karachi. Hats off to the Entertainment Sub-Committee and its Convenor Mr. Faheem A. Sakrani for putting up such a fantabulous event. What is happening??? terrorist activities.. killing of innocent people... murder.. theft...betrayal... hate... jealousy.. lying...!! Where are we going?? What have we turned ourselves into?? ALLAH created us to be the best of all mankind.. and today we are enemies of each other!!! Love is far lost... its all the competition... race of getting ahead of each other.. race to materialist ic things... money and just money.. We have forgotten that money can never buy happiness.... it just gives temporary pleasures...! Its sad to say... animals are inferior to us.. they lack the brain.. the power humans are blessed with.. But still animals are far more better than us! Animals are Far more loving... Far more caring.. Far more loyal... Far more sincere.. Far more civilized.. Far more organised.. Far more obedient to Allah obey Allah! We mankind were created for a purpose...!!! To obey our creator..follow His teachings.. His commandments.!!! May ALLAH pak guide us all towards the straight path. Ameen

9 Entertainment Spring Fiesta "Chunky Monkey" Nisar Shaheed Park, DHA, Karachi by Entertainment Committee on 27th March As is the tradition at Karachi, the advent of spring is celebrated with a program for children and this year too, the tradition was followed. A fun and rides session was organized for the little ones Honorary Secretary Jawed H. Karim and President Ashfaq Yousuf Tola signing the lease document pertaining to Plot No. 22/1 where Karachi multistory mega project is planned to be constructed. The tireless and steady efforts of Honorary Secretar y in harmoniously resolve the issue of revitalization of lease pending in litigation with governmental officials will long be remembered. April 2016 and not so little ones at the Nisar Shaheed Park s Chunky Munky. The children had endless rides with endless popcorns, baked Corn (Makai), candy floss and of course the Halwa Puri Nashta..a very well organized event once again by the Entertainment Sub-Committee and its Convenor Mr. Faheem A. Sakrani. A big thank you to the entertainment committee for giving club members back to back events
