2 I m kinda bummed!!. We had our last 2016 scheduled D2 ride this month and the official D2 riding season is over. Yeah, we ll still be able to get the bikes out for dinner rides, but not having a weekend full of Chapter activities is a bummer. It reminds me of when Football season ends (Go Falcons!). This time of year is also a time of change. Seasons, leaves, clocks, and residences change (how bout them snowbirds!). Not only is the season changing, but our Chapter is changing. Surprise, Surprise, we re getting older. We ve had some long time members sell their trusty steeds and others who due to illness and other family activities are not as active as they once were. Attendance at gatherings, rides, and rallies is declining. Your D2 Team is working to find new things we can do to enhance, change, or improve what D2 is currently doing to enhance chapter activities for both riders and drivers. Nothing is off limits. Hold on, don t be scared. Change is not only good it s inevitable. We re changing, the chapter is changing, and as a Chapter, we have to adapt so we can grow and prosper. If you ve had something regarding the Chapter you d like the team to consider, please let me know. If not me, then anyone else on your D2 team. I d like to think this is a continuous open invitation as we re always open to try something new. The Christmas Party committee is done with this year s extravaganza! Our party is going to be held December 11 at the New Haven Parks and Rec building (New Haven, IN not New Haven, Connecticut!). We re having a catered dinner and the committee is planning a gaggle of fun activities. The cost per person is $15 with the Chapter making up the balance. Please get your money and RSVP in by the end of November. Joyce Nelson is taking the moola. It s gonna be a GREAT night. Until next month. 3 ROB & NATALIE RIDER Hi D-2 Chapter- We are about to come to the end of our rides for this season! We ve sure had a few VERY memorable rides and the pictures posted on Facebook prove it!!! The rides for October were Howard s Fall Ride. Great Ride Howard! Then we were off to Wolf Park For the Animal Lovers. Last but not least was the Progressive Dinner Ride. This was a Great ride and the weather could not have been any better!! Thanks to all who attended. Your participation makes the whole thing FUN!!!!! Our Dinner Rides for the Month of October were very good too!! They Consisted of Bo Doogies BBQ, St. Joe Pizza, Subs and BBQ, Bob s Family Restaurant and Agaves Mexican Grill. Even when the weather turns cold, the warmth of GOOD Friends is always something to look forward to!!!! Rob Rider- RIde Coordinator DAN ROUTT As cold weather starts to roll in this season and the last red leaves fall off the trees, it's time to start thinking about what you're going to do with your motorcycle this winter. For some, winter means buying fuel stabilizer, dusting off the trickle charger, and gently snuggling their motorcycle into a warm corner of the garage. For the rest of us, winter means no change to our motorcycle riding habits except the addition of quite a bit of extra clothing! Riding a motorcycle in cold weather comes down to one simple concept: insulation. Since most people aren't very active on a motorcycle, their body isn't doing much to produce heat on its own to counteract the cold. That means we have to do everything we can to insulate the body in order to keep what precious heat that we do produce actually on our body, and not floating off in the cold winter air. Insulation boils down to two things: layers (to slow the rate at which our body loses heat), and wind proofing (to keep the wind from stealing our heat). 6 7 slices bacon 3 eggs 1 cup white sugar PUMPKIN ROLL Ingredients 2/3 cup solid pack pumpkin puree 3 eggs 1 cup white sugar 2/3 cup solid pack pumpkin puree 1 teaspoon lemon juice 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 cup chopped pecans confectioners' sugar for dusting 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese 4 tablespoons butter 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract confectioners' sugar for dusting Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10x15 inch jellyroll pan. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar with an electric mixer on high speed for five minutes. Gradually mix in pumpkin and lemon juice. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and ginger; stir into the pumpkin mixture. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle pecans over the top of the batter. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the center springs back when touched. Loosen edges with a knife. Turn out on two dishtowels that have been dusted with confectioners' sugar. Roll up cake using towels, and let cool for about 20 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, butter, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Unroll pumpkin cake when cool, spread with filling, and roll up. Place pumpkin roll on a long sheet of waxed paper, and dust with confectioners' sugar. Wrap cake in waxed paper, and twist ends of waxed paper like a candy wrapper. Refrigerate overnight. Serve chilled; before slicing, dust with additional confectioners' sugar. Pumpkins originated in Central America. The name pumpkin originated from "pepon" the Greek word for "large melon." Pumpkins contain potassium and Vitamin A. Pumpkins are fruit.
