Kiama Lions Club Ki-Lines Edition 5/ 2013-2014 JAMBEROO PUB Hello fellow Lions. I think by now all members are aware that our old mate Terry Hales is doing it a bit tough these days.

1 Kiama Lions Club Ki-Lines Edition 5/ JAMBEROO PUB Hello fellow Lions. I think by now all members are aware that our old mate Terry Hales is doing it a bit tough these days. His brain tumour is progressing rapidly and this week he was admitted to David Berry Hospital, 85 Tannery Rd, Berry. He would welcome visitors but due to family visitations on the weekend we have been asked to visit during weekdays. I thought last week s talk by Mayor Brian Petschler was most informative. It s always good to hear first-hand what Council has planned in our area. Our next meeting is at Jamberoo Pub due to other commitments at the Leagues Club. Following the difficulties we had at the bowling club with background noise, we will not be having a guest speaker this night. The pub has great ambience and I think when we have finished our normal meeting arrangements we will partake in fellowship, either in the lounge with friends or in the dining room where there is a lot of memorabilia or of course there s the famous bar and log fire. Hopefully members will car pool amongst themselves. Jerry and Sue Granger-Holcombe returned from the Old Dart on Thursday and Sue says she s enjoying the lovely weather over here. I almost got blown off the Bowling Green today so it must be bad in England. On a serious note now Jerry s back I hope to have a meeting next week to finalise the purchase of a new BBQ trailer. Then we ll move on to something more suitable for the markets. Whilst on the markets I was pleased that the turnover for last weekend was very good and if we can keep power to the pie oven for the whole day I think we should start achieving that $1000 mark we strive for. Jerry also reminds me end of month is end of 5c collection. Get your collection together. Don t forget the next Happy Hour. It s on Friday 6 th September at Graham Bradley s house. All those that attended last time know this to be a great party house and Graham has been reading up on the oven instructions so the food will be heated in a timely fashion. I d like to mention a few dates for your diary: 1) August 26 th Art Show Assembly, Monday 9 th disassembly. 2) September 8 th Hot Rod Show BBQ. 3) September 28 th Folk Festival food tent. Please help where you can.

"My husband has always supported me...he wanted to pledge something for society, for humanitarian causes. So he pledged US$5 million to be spread globally," said PDG Oswal of India. "I feel this is the best Foundation. I have seen it working...i have felt it with my heart and soul. That is why I am so passionate about LCIF, because I have seen the success stories. Today, it was a very big deal for all of us. Let us try to make this world a beautiful world and let us create a difference in society." In addition to this incredible commitment, Lions in attendance generously made donations at the Foundation booth. 7 We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion: Routine... (1) The woman buys the food. (2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert. (3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand. (4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman. Here comes the important part: (5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL. More routine... (6) The woman goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery. (7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat Important again: (8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN. More routine... (9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table. (10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all: (11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts. (12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ' her night off ', and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.
