This was a hiking destination. We hiked from Waddell Beach to the Park Headquarters Visitor Center and back. We encountered three waterfalls on the way to the Center It is not necessary to do any hiking to enjoy the park. You can drive to the Visitor Center and two of the tallest trees in the forest are within yards of the center. Remember, these trees are between 200 and 300 feet tall and are between 1000 and 2000 years old. This particular stand of trees are known as coast redwoods. (Continued on page 2)Editor s Corner Country N Western BBQ You were greeted with the aroma of grilled meats as you entered the restaurant. The day began with friends greeting friends, selecting seating, and enjoying beverages and conversation. Although attendance was down somewhat, those that did attend seemed to enjoy themselves very much. I heard someone say that some members did not attend because of difficulty in navigating the buffet line. Please don t let that stop you. Other members will provide assistance to those needing it. The menu was as advertised. And, as usual the food was delicious. My personal favorites were the tri-tip and Italian sausage. Michael s does an excellent job for these luncheons. Many thanks to the Programs group for arranging this luncheon. In addition, Norm did a good job of M C ing the day s activities. Door Prize winners were; Victor Zuroff, Annamarie Boddy and David Ray. Vern briefed us on upcoming travel and pictures were taken by Bill Hammerlund After lunch, several members participated in the line dancing instructions from The Dancing DJ, Rich Campbell. I enjoyed talking with my table mates, Margaret Schmidt and the Robinsons. To borrow a phrase from Ken Koga, The Country and Western BBQ luncheon was a success. Don t forget the October luncheon. PRESS RELEASE Lockheed Martin Announces Increase Of $1 Billion To Existing Share Repurchase Authority BETHESDA, Md., August 23rd, Lockheed Martin Corporation [NYSE: LMT] announced that its Board of Directors has approved an interim increase to the amount available under the share repurchase program of up to $1 billion. The new authorization increases the current share repurchase program initiated in October 2010, which is expected to reach its limit prior to the next scheduled review of share repurchase authority. A new share repurchase program is expected to be considered by the Board of Directors this fall. "We believe this additional share repurchase authorization is an effective way to deliver value back to our shareholders and is consistent with our commitment to return at least 50 percent of annual free cash to stockholders," said Bob Stevens, Lockheed Martin chairman and chief executive officer. The dollar amount of shares purchased and the timing of purchases under the program are at the discretion of management. Shares may be purchased in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 126,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.
